Ok so i pierced a minute hole in the freezing element tube gas bit with a big knife and it is now hissing.

A) Will the gas kill me if i carry on sucking it in?
B) Is it addictive?
C) Is the fridge freezer fecked?

I did this many years, highly embarrassing, chopping away at the ice with a big knife and then the hissing sound Plain

It had iced up naydam, but you probably guessed that. I was in a rush to chip the ice away because the Asda shop was being delivered soon.

I got a new BEKO a couple of months ago - It's brilliant

I have it on the Lowest setting - any less and it would Switch Off - and the Fridge part is twice as cold as my previous one.

Needless to say - Food lasts at least twice as long in it, aswell.

Very quiet, too - often not even a sound.

It'll be all right for AG.
It sounds like he only uses the freezer to keep his tools in anyway.

hectorate -

That was a small batch - a few years ago - and ONLY the ones that had an automatic Defrost Timer fitted ... Not all Fridge-Freezers had, nor do.

I had heard the stories - so rather than sheepishly follow the 'urban myth crowd' - I did my homework, instead.

That sort of scenario is why the Internet is absolutely brilliant.

Crippen knows his freezers, he keeps his wife in the chest freezer in his lock-up.

Onlooker because of that fire episode, BEKO did get a bad rep. Hence as you say plenty of myth which probably means a bit of value now.

we have a Bosch fridge/freezer which is supposed to be frost free.

The fridge often becomes too hot because of too much frost which blocks the flow of cold air from freezer to fridge. One solution is to defrost.

I defrost my freezer with the wife's hairdryer. Saves fannying about with a knife and is done in a few minutes.

Got a fridge freezer in the garage( won't fit in the kitchen). Only use the freezer part. Kept shutting off/defrosting last winter as it got too cold in the garage. After lots of investigation, the simplest solution was to just leave the fridge door slightly open.Fridge temp rises( thermostat kicks in, and freezer section comes on )
