Ched Evans to get his job back - Newsnight

Ched Evans should be allowed to play football again when he is released from prison, says Professional Footballers' Association chief Gordon Taylor.
The Wales striker, 25, was jailed for five years for rape in April 2012 but is due to be released early this month.
More than 90,000 people have signed a petition  calling on Evans' former club Sheffield United not to re-employ him.
"I didn't know there was a law that said once you come out of prison you still can't do anything," Taylor said.
The PFA chief, speaking to the BBC's Sport Wales programme, added: "As a trade union we believe in the rule of law... besides that, he still wants to contribute to society.
"If he earns money he'll pay taxes, those taxes will go to help people who maybe can't get a job."
Sheffield United signed Evans for £3m in 2009, but released him along with 10 other players the month after his conviction for raping a 19-year-old woman at a hotel near Rhyl, Denbighshire.
The South Yorkshire club has refused to comment on a possible return for Evans, who was capped 13 times for Wales before his conviction.
Meanwhile Wales manager Chris Coleman told a media conference on Thursday ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifier against Bosnia-Hercegovina on Friday: "I've not thought about Ched Evans. That story has come from outside our camp.

Patrick Kluivert, Lee Hughes both convicted of death by dangerous driving and came straight back into football and played for years afterwards after they had served their sentences.

Not difficult at all - he's served his time. Would never have gone to trial but for the 'victim's' connections anyway.

They sang it before he went to trial - he'll shag who he wants. Terrace humour, eh?

Take it up with the juduciary if you have a problem with the length of his sentence.

Evans was a bit unlucky and he has every right to be aggrieved that unlike all the other rapists and thugs in football he wasnt a big enough name to be above the law.

I was stunned when I looked into it.  I think he was merely guilty of being an arrogant footballer.   Explain how his mate was found innocent and Ched was found guilty?  It can't happen.   Either both were guilty or both were innocent.

I too have my doubts about this conviction, but justice has taken its course, and there will always be questionable verdicts whatever systems you use to arrive at a verdict.

There can be no justification however, for refusing to let a man continue his career upon release whatever your views on his crime.

sufc season ticket holder here,fwiw I think he should be allowed to continue his career as a footballer whether it be with sufc or not.the law states he has done his time and is allowed to continue the employment that he used to do before he was sent down.
some people are now turning this into a witch hunt against evans and sufc when it seems there anger should be applied to the cps,police or indeed the justice system.

It's a difficult one, wesdag. Apparently.
