they should just close the exchange down. does ne1 actually bet with betfair exchange nemore. all the markets are empty apart from de match odds and they charge an arm and a leg commission compared to elsewhere.

Betfair spend good money on p!ssing people off.

Warren Buffet is attributed by some to have said ''buy a company an idiot could run, because eventually an idiot will run it.''

Is this true?

If so, I doubt there'll be anyone posting on here except the nutters after November the 1st, other than a few posts from those who occasionally look in.

Betfair, you really have no idea about how to run a business do you?

Idiotic changes for the sake of making idiotic changes - over and over again - till your business goes totally t!ts up.
Report brassneck October 16, 2014 12:55 AM BST
betfair are well known for shooting themselves in the foot, they would hardly close down the old site because that would be shooting themselves in the head.
Report Tommy Toes October 16, 2014 12:56 AM BST
Aye, brassneck - but I wouldn't put it past them.
Report brassneck October 16, 2014 12:59 AM BST
sounds like the gun is loaded, but I can not see the logic ,they would realize their mistake very very quickly.
Report Tommy Toes October 16, 2014 1:01 AM BST
I thought that on May the 6th 2010, brassneck - but they carried on regardless.
Report brassneck October 16, 2014 1:13 AM BST
well,i don't know what they are at,they spend millions of pounds on developing the new site, and it has turned into a white elephant, they are trapped and have to get a return.they would be better off advertising and promoting a market like total goals in the premier every weekend .for example over 26 goals 4/5 under 26 goals 4/5 balance the books on the betting and take 10 million for each and keep the profits.they could do this on all two result markets.and it could be done on the old site.in other words thet could be bookmakers and balance their own books.then they would get their money back.Grin
Report brassneck October 16, 2014 1:22 AM BST
but as you say Tommy, its my guess they will carry on regardless, and blow the organization to pulp.
Report Tommy Toes October 16, 2014 1:24 AM BST
Indeed, brassneck - to all.

They don't have a clue.

Looks like it is just the API - that is being closed down - Tommy

- and a case of '2 and 2 making 5' ....

Llamedos     14 Oct 14 11:42

Maybe some have been told that the Old site is being turned off at the end of October, but with regards to the information in the Premium Charge account payers letter, the reference to the old version being turned off refers to the API not the old site.

Quote

'For those customers who bet directly into Betfair via the API, there is less than one month to go before the retirement of the old version of the Betfair API.
From 1st November you will only be able to bet and make calls via API NG. There is no charge currently for the use of API NG and this will apply until 12th January 2015 '

the forum should be developed, but I sort of think that they want it closed(my opinion).and if the had it run correctly it could be a way of advertising.in the next few weeks I will get a few packets in the door from the betting industries thanking me for my custom for the year 2014.most parcels contain a pen, a dairy,a coffee mug.a note, and little trinkets .(mostly rubbish)I will also get a Christmas card wishing me a happy Christmas,i get great fun telling my family that the betting company sent me these items because I am important.all the companies will tell me I am a valued customer.and I do feel got about it.but I never get a parcel for betfair.they  sent their parcels to the media and the gravy train guys.
just after reading onlookers news.(thanks onlooker, the good news)since I spent the last few minutes typing this post I may as well post it.
Report brassneck October 16, 2014 1:47 AM BST

See that Top Gear sketch where a cyclist is confronted with a bomb and has to decide whether cut the red wire or the green wire to disarm it?

The voice is screaming at him to cut the green wire, but the cyclist  nevertheless cuts the red wire and blows himself up.

Betfair are about to cut the red wire.
Report Tommy Toes October 16, 2014 3:57 PM BST
I reckon you're correct, Dr Crippen.

Then there will be a 'conference' some months later at Betfair Towers about how Betfair's exchange profits keep going down and down and down from 'Joe Public' and another load of waffle will be said by the kids in charge who have no idea of gamblers requisites at all - and then another bunch of tripe will be churned out on the site.

I've said it before but I'll say it again: Talk about killing the Golden Goose. Idiots.

The Betfair Company Motto to work there must now equal 'Thickos Paradise'.
