How much longer did Dinosaurs exist vs Humans?

How did they grow so big?

A lot longer.

Humans have been around for about 250,000 years. I'm not sure about dinosaurs but I would guess about 75 million years

Dinosaurs about 150 million years. First man was created 4026 BC iirc.

I was surprised to read we have been around that long. Humans have come a long way since Christ, but Christ what were we doing in the 248,000 years before that?

Dinosaurs were around 140 million years but were extinct before primates appeared 6 million years ago
These evolved to humans around 200000 years ago

Hunter Gathering mostly . What did you expect them to be doing ! Until agriculture was invented about 10,000 BC humans lived full time searching for animals they could kill and eat or whatever fruits etc they could find.

What about all this Atlantis stuff?

I would have thought they'd get organised, streamline their activities, invent things sooner.

They were organized , for the purpose of hunting , as that was they had to survive on .They invented some better spears ,bows etc to do this .

It was day to day survival , like any other animal .

Imagine a caveman who announced he wasn't going to go out hunting that day because he felt there was a better way of surviving and he'd just sit around dreaming up inventions towards that . The other caveman would have said 'wtf you doing' and clubbed him over the head .

But you can come up with ideas while hunting/ eating etc. 248,000 years!! Our ancestors have a lot to answer for.

Ideas for what If they didn't find a large animal (not that easy in a vast wilderness ) and kill it (again very difficult ) and fend off any lions/bears/hyenas that would steal it from them ,then they would starve to death .They were pretty focused on doing this IMO , not daydreaming about things that could not benfit them in anyway .

I do not think that is true

Mammals did not really emerge until they were gone, initially things like mice
who may have overlapped slightly

No humans, except in a few films I have seen

I have doubts myself about the longevity of the human race

As a species we are unbelievably violent. No other species kills each other as much as we do,

I don't think any other species enjoys inflicting pain like we do

If you combine that with our cleverness as a species, I think there is a chance we will destroy ourselves

Dinosaur extinction about 60 million years ago. Humans have only existed a small fraction of that time.

The Chimpanzee are our nearest animal relatives

5 million years separates us, 5 million years ago we were the same animal

3 million years Australopithecus, virtually a Chimpanzee with a straight back
all humans come from this..this straight back was important, it allows to voice a large range of sounds
necessary for speech

2 million years ago first hominids start to appear, something like us, but with more hair and flat heads

Our brains developed to process this communication, we were able to hold abstract concepts in our minds, we became aware

We have also used this brain to understand the world around us, this has enabled us to make our lives more comfortable,

Although the current thinking is they may have both evolved at the same time

Recent discoveries in China have found Dinosaur fossils with a covering of feathers

So it is possible all Dinosaurs were covered with feathers, although it is doubtful

they could fly looking at the size of them

The time of the Dinosaurs was followed by a time of large mammals, including large flightless birds

Humans have entered the game fairly late on

The extinction of the Dinosaurs is still a bit of a mystery

A large meteorite did hit the Earth, and there would have been many years of permanent night because of the dust released

But it still took over a million years for them to die out...so it is not totally clear

Although the meteorite strike would probably have killed off the larger ones...

Flora would have suffered and died with no sun the larger herbivores may have become extinct, followed by the larger predators
