Hunter Gathering mostly . What did you expect them to be doing ! Until agriculture was invented about 10,000 BC humans lived full time searching for animals they could kill and eat or whatever fruits etc they could find.
If they didn't find a large animal (not that easy in a vast wilderness ) and kill it (again very difficult ) and fend off any lions/bears/hyenas that would steal it from them ,then they would starve to death .They were pretty focused on doing this IMO , not daydreaming about things that could not benfit them in anyway .
