Why anyone would spend a grand or so to watch England play completely baffles me. I can only assume the hookers in Estonia are top notch and cheap as chips.
Report i_agree_with_nick October 12, 2014 5:46 PM BST
A lot of England fans are supporters of lower league clubs and don't get the opportunity to follow their team away in Europe.

Also, it's really lads' weekend away in Tallinn with a football match thrown in
Report rob_dylan October 12, 2014 5:46 PM BST
Wouldnt cost much to go to estonia.  Easyjet fly to talinn.

The fans in Tallinn aren't necessarily the same ones who were in Switzerland, Brazil etc

Talinn had some of the best food I have ever eaten, fairly priced too.  Id go anywhere in the world to watch england play test cricket but wouldnt watch them play football if it was next door and i was given free tickets.

I'm the same with rugby rob, I'd pay top dollar to watch England or The British Lions but I wouldn't pay decent money to watch football. I go to Newcastle to see my mates and to watch Palace play but that only costs me 40 sovs.

I've been all over Europe following my local footy side in Europe. We are the minnows of Europe but I've had some of my best trips going to places you would never consider going.

We stayed in Tallin the second time we played in Helsinki (it's an hours ferry ride). Prices in Tallin were 1/3rd the cost of Helsinki. Brilliant spot.

Cheap flights means these trips aren't that expensive, my first trip away trip cost me £400 in 1988, my last flight to Brussels last year cost me £40.

I wouldn't mind if they were that good, making hard work again 10 men ffs, don't they have jobs to go to on Monday morning ?
Report rob_dylan October 12, 2014 6:48 PM BST
We actually dnt let many goals in.  I was looking at all time world cup stats in the summer and iirc we had the best defensive record of the teams that had played a lot of games.

How many chancs has rooney missed in the last two games, think he has lost it.
Report mafeking October 12, 2014 6:55 PM BST
about to go past jimmy greaves Cry

he would have scored well over a 100 goals in a similar number of games to rooney against the sort of pub team oppo he mainly gets to face
Report Ovalman. October 12, 2014 6:59 PM BST
England had the British Championships when Greavsey was playing, N.Ireland and Wales were easy scoring opportunities.

Hope he beats it, he's a great player.

There are MILLIONS of people in England. A tiny fraction go to watch these games. Who's to say they can't afford it?
Report Emden October 13, 2014 9:32 PM BST
expats make up a significant part of the away support

A grand a pop seems a bit over exaggerated, the lads from my footy team flew out from birmingham early hours sat morning and came bk this afternoon and i dont think theyed of forked out 1k each.  I always wonder how they do it regarding hols from work, must have a fair few,  3 or 4 days hols here and there 4/5 times a year plus xmas plus  the 2 weeks they have to keep back to go away with the missus, if they are unfortunate enough to have one.
Report mafeking October 13, 2014 11:33 PM BST
probably more like between 400 quid in western europe up to around 700 in some far flung eastern location for a 2 night trip

I think playing pub teams might have been a problem for Greavsie.Crazy
