East Enders - why some people watch it.

They've been running quite a long trailer for EE recently and that looks depressing enough!

I'd like to know exactly which area of the East End it's supposed to portray as it isn't anything like the East End that I know.

Slippy - from an appearance point of view, Albert Square was originally based on a square in Dalston

I_a_w_n, I guessed it would be somewhere like Dalston or maybe Hoxton funnily enough.

Its just like real life...well if all your friends and family were terrible actors and represented many of the countries minorities.

Completely agree.

It has to be the most miserable TV program I've ever seen, and I've only ever seen bit and pieces when flicking over, it's really is what people say, thoroughly depressing. I'm not a northerner or a soap fan at all, but Coronation Street always seems more watchable.

Soaps in general are watch by people as they're an escape from reality, and there is nothing realistic about Eastenders. If it was, they'd all be teetotal and praying six times a day like true EastEnder's, instead, they're all shagging each other's misses and drinking in the Vic

I'd like to know where you can buy a pub lunch everyday, like what Mark Fowler did, after only selling 1 banana and a couple of apples on his stall. Must be golden apples and a diamond encrusted banana!!!

Most of the characters go to the Pub and start shouting ,there is a lot of shouting in general ,but the shouting in the pub
can be pretty dramatic ,If I went to pubs around here and started Shouting Like they do in EE ,I would a be ejected ,if not
sectioned ,Shouting is a major part of the EE experience if you enjoy hearing men and women shouting ,you must be delighted
when you tune in ,I dont watch the programme but I can assure you whenever I have seen it on there is always someone shouting.
I can't remember the last time I shouted ,And as far as I can remember I have never shouted in a pub unless cheering a horse on or watching football ,infact shouting in a pub is very rare ,if you watch EE you would expect shouting to be taking place
in most pubs across the country on a regular basis ,I believe EE is creating a false impression of British pubs and may well
have led to the Decline in Pub Buisness ,people who watch EE think I can't be bothered to go to the Pub there will be people shouting in there .. Tragic Really ...

I have never watched it..apart from odd bits..while at a friends, etc

It seems to represent a world so miserable, I cannot understand why everybody living in such a  world
would not commit suicide

I watch it with my daughter and girlfriend its great entertainment r1pping the p1ss out of the plots the comedy value is great,can't believe anyone would sit there biting their nails in anticipation of the plotjust seems to be self mocking to me...

Andy Jacobs was speaking, on Talksport, in praise of Neighbours today, "So different from Eastenders, where people are always shouting and always miserable..."

Apparently Danny Dyer met Ed Miliband the other night at the magazine Attitude’s awards ceremony.
An onlooker told the paper Milband had “made a big point of saying he knew a lot about the show. Then he started saying how the character of Martin Fowler has had three different actors playing him and how Ben Mitchell’s character has had five”.

Naturally, Dyer asked him if he was a big fan and regular watcher - but Ed shook his head and clarified: “I don’t have time but I’ve been doing a lot of research about it online.”

A Labour source added:
It might have felt a bit awkward but Ed was just making a genuine effort to brush up on his TV knowledge.
