Why don't you buy him a rechargeable battery pack Vicky?

The source of my knowledge was an American site.
I just trawled Amazon for a 6v battery and indeed they have them, but one reviewer bought one, having seen (presumably) the site I looked at and states that 32 AA batteries is not the case! Hi Joel, I know you will have some knowledge here because of your planes. Do rechargeable ones have the same performance as standard batteries? |

I bought the little guy an R/C speed boat and the quoted battery duration is between 6 and 9 minutes, which is pathetic.
I was going to buy another 2 packs of rechargeable ones unless the standard batteries have decent duration. |

From Amazon review:
By Arturo on 17 Mar 2013 Verified Purchase Bought this because I was informed on the internet that they contain 32 AA individual cells. I have thus proved that this is not true. However, I will find a good use for it. |

Hi Aunty, the planes take special Lithium ones as they need to be light weight, but yeah they generally only last 7 or 8 minutes which is why I have about 10 or so. (You can get them pretty cheap from Hobbyking).
But for standard AA or such, I don't really like the rechargables, I prefer to just get lithium ones which last a decent amount of time. I was just recommending the XBOX rechargeable for stickyvicky as you can always recharge it whilst playing so it saves buying new batteries every time they run out. |

You can but rapid chargers. The batteries also have a milliamp hour (mAh) rating - the higher, the better capacity. There are 2400 mAh duracells available on ebay.

Just my luck for there to be one giant battery inside.

They're cells. Actually.

Stevie is correct. A battery consists of two or more cells

buy rechargeable bateries, and charge them at work
saves money, although 9 hours for a full charge might be a problem to some |
|

I then procured a new 6-volt battery of another brand to use in a second attempt. Alas, this battery also contained only 4 larger cells, not 32 AA's:

I'm afraid it's not illegal to have a sense of humour on Youtube! C'mon, you've got to see the funny side.

Hmmm. I've just been back to watch this video again. I noticed in the comments below it that somebody has reached the same conclusion that I did when I thought about it.
Single alkaline cells produce 1.5volts. Whichever way you then configure a battery of 32 cells it cannot equal 9 volts. Basically that quantity can only be linked as 4X8=32 OR 8X4=32. The first way gives you 6 volts and the second way gives you 12 volts! Neither way gives you 9. The only way it might work would be linked as 5X6 which equals 30 cells and just throw in the other two as spacers. |
|
By:
Make that last one 6X5 to fit same cells times rows as above.

Facts. A 1.5 volt battery can also contain 4 X 1.5 cells. Hope THAT helps, too.
