I've been to Kos, it was completely unremarkable and not a place I'd ever recommend to anyone.

Whereabouts you staying in Kos ?

Kos Town is nice, Think if i remember Socrates tree and some kind of medieval Building.

Tingaki was just a couple of places when i waas last there, has been extended and is really just a beach resort.

Kardamina is a raving 18-30s and very very wild. I kid not !!!!

There is a few ruins to see at the end of Bar Street 1, also there is Paradise Beach half way down the islans, which is fantastic, no stones, clear waters, very very nice beach, best on the island by far.

If you hire transport Car/Bike please.... BE CAREFUL.. the roads have pot holes the size of craters, if you speed, you will have an accident, also watch for blind bends, traffic/Coaches do not stop for bikes or anything else lol.

Also there is a day trip to Turkey(boat) which guarantees a slightly frosty receeption as the Turks hate the Greeks and Vice Versa.

So if you do go over , don't tell them your staying in Kos Other than that have a brilliant time !

I went in may 2007 just me and a mate. Cost us 130 each for a week room only. Stayed in kardamina, the party resort, a bit quiet for the time of yearbut still managed get my end away in a little gerodie bird and a chubby bird from bristol. HTH

I've been to Kos 23 yes twenty three times!
My daughter got married there in 2009.
What do you want to know about the place?... where are you staying?

Was there during the Olympics in both 88 and 92. All I can remember of one is incessant coverage of some Greek lass who won gold in the 100m hurdles because Gail Devers faceplanted the last hurdle.

@ johnizere and M13 staying at the blue lagoon resort about a mile north east of kos town,I have a 7 year old so no pi55 ups any places worth seeing or anything else worth doing, have heard about the turkey trip and others have mentioned a boat trip that takes in other islands. TIA

The Blue Lagoon resort is where we stayed when my daughter got married there. It's a great hotel, massive swimming pool, and a kids pool with a pirate ship for them to explore. The self serve restaurant food is excellent, loads of choice. They have a separate restaurant which serves 'themed' meals, a different theme every night. If you're all inclusive, the drinks are very low in alcohol content (IMO),branded drinks available though.
Blue Lagoon is a little way from Kos town, 5 min taxi ride, half hour walk? It's right on the beach with views to Kalymnos straight ahead, or Turkey a little to the right. Turkey is very close, and very easy to get to from Kos. The ferries/hydrofoil (quickest, around 20 mins) leave between 9 and 10 every day to Bodrum, well worth a visit.
Kos town itself is really nice to visit, with the harbour and ancient ruins to see.
The best restaurant by a country mile is Broadway Restaurant, Alexandra Megalou St.,you really should give this place a visit at least once.
Another place to see is Embros Therma, where boiling hot water comes out of the rocks and runs into the sea, and you can bathe in it! It's very hot in places, but a must just for the experience. It's about as far from Kos town as Blue Lagoon, but other side of town if you know what I mean?
A very pretty place to visit would be Zia... an old village up in the mountain which is in the centre of the island.
There's a water park on the island somewhere, but never visited, so can't comment, but your 7 yo will have enough to see and do at the Blue Lagoon anyway.
Almost forgot, there's an excellent gym and spa at the resort, it's located right in the middle of the complex, next to the entertainment building, which looks like a circus tent!
