The cast looked good, the idea seemed fine and then after reading this I realised it would be sh*te.

The film will be directed by Oliver Parker, who made Johnny English Reborn, St Trinian's and Othello starring Sir Kenneth Branagh.

The script will be written by Hamish McColl, who wrote Johnny English Reborn and Mr Bean's Holiday.

I think Mark Strong would make a good Hodges.

Dambuster - Re Arnold Ridley - renowned playwright no doubt, but the Eartha Kitt bit is an urban myth.  Mind, the mind bogglesLaugh at the thought of it.

Mitchell is a good shout for Mainwaring. Steve Coogan would have been perfect for Private Walker, I've never heard of Danny Mays before.

It will not work - whilst the actors mentioned are excellent in their own right those of us old enough to remember the original actors will think any substitutes will be unable to compare with the likes of Le Mesurier, Lowe, Laurie, Beck & co. They did make a film with the original characters - I think it was in 1971 - & whilst it was reasonable it wasn't a patch on the original TV series. The episodes of 30 minutes were the perfect length to enjoy them in their glory & were comedy gold - the episode with Philip Madoc as the captured u-boat commander was as good as comedy can get.

It's an excellent cast , but why the fu ck is Lenny Henry playing the reverend Timothy Farthing?
