Morning guys I awoke this morning with pains on the left hand side of my chest, never happened before,I am hoping it may be muscular, but I was ok when I went to bed,so am slightly concerned.

I don't want to go to doctor, and if irc heart pains would be on right side of chest.Any thoughts appreciated.

Walk straight into A&e and tell them, lay it on thick, get seen too quick.

Gall stones can cause crushing chest pains, nausea etc.  Doctors will suggest ultra sound scan to check.go get it sorted.

Does the pain feel close to the outside,or deeper.

Muscular would normally be the former and should be gone in about 3 days.

Heart issues pain would usually be high up across the chest.

Take 300 mg asprin to be on safe side.

This happened to me 7 years ago, crushing pains in chest, thought it was heart attack ... turned out I had a COLLAPSED lung !!

Go to doctors NOW !!! If I had left it another day I was told I would have died

The pain is closer to the outside,so hopefully muscular.

Reminds me of the old classic:

Bloke goes into a doctors and points to four places on his arm - "Doc, it's hurts like fk here, here, here and here".

Doctor: "You have a broken Humerus and Radius, and severe bruising around both breaks, I'm hardly surprised it hurts."

we can be proud that many people suffering ailments still prefer to use ChitChat rather than the NHS 111 service or their GPs. From aches & pains to Ebola, there's always someone here to help.

ChitChatterer: You need to report to a hospital as soon as possible.
Concerned Thread Starter: What is it?
ChitChatterer: It's a big building with a lot of doctors, but that's not important right now.

Does my comment about it being a possible collapsed lung just get ignored? I thought it was a heart attack, then i thought it was just muscle pains ... only to be told lung almost killed me.

You are a total idiot if you don't go get it checked out, and if you die I will have no sympathy for you at all ... go get it seen for crying out loud

The gear box in my car is playing up, if I was acting like you were I would just be saying "oh wait, al just leave it and see if it's better later" ... eh, NAW !! Going to garage to get it seen to !!

Two years ago I was feeling a bit dodgy and my blood pressure was very high. A bit tight in the chest and upper arms, but I was used to that as I had had angina for years. However, this time the old nitro spray wasn't working. I thought it was a bad case of indigestion.

I got senior management to run me up to A&E at Harrogate. Lovely young female doctor took some blood, gave me an aspirin and said they would keep me in over night. 'I can only stay for one night as I'm going to Crete on Tuesday.'

Fine upstairs and into a ward, nurse gets me a cup of tea and I'm chatting to her. Door bursts open, another nurse comes in, 'You're going nowhere but onto a machine next door in Cardiac. You've had a heart attack.'

Few days later they do an angigram (quite painless) and the man tells me I've got three completely blocked tubes in the heart and I'm going down to the LGI at Leeds for a by-pass operation.

At Leeds I was in Ward thirteen, bed thirteen and they did it on the morning of Friday the thirteenth. But off I go for the op and wake up in the ICU with the doctor, Mr Kaul (who was in the ward at 7.20am), telling me that while he had the heart out on the kitchen table he replaced five tubes and that I would now live longer and have a better quality of life. I walked out of the hospital after six days.

My GP tells me that the average life expectancy after the op is 20-25 years.

And all that is why I am so opposed to what the Tories are doing to the NHS.

Just a foot note to my last post:

The night before the operation I was told I needed to shave and they'd send a nurse along to do it. The mind is in overdrive wondering which one of the lovelies I was going to get handling my equipment.

While I was musing on this, round the corner walks this six foot three black bloke, 'I'm Freedom and I've come to shave you.'

'Err, I think I might be able to manage it myself.'

almost exactly 2 years ago I had serious chest pains and a sharp pain when breathing, left it for 2 days thinking it would go away, it didnt, could barely stand up let alone walk on the 3rd day, had an ambulance come to my house and take me to A&E, turned out I had a huge block clot in in my lungs, 2 specialists told me my body was in the process of shutting down and another 12 hours without treatment I wouldve died, ended up being in hospital for 22 days, from now on if I ever experince something similar I wont put it off and go straight to A&E I suggest you do the same
