John Grisham is 'just a crime writer', nothing too highbrow, but when I have read his books I have been absolutely hooked. The one about the black lawyer in nick, read the entire book in 24 hours on holiday, just felt like I couldnt put it down. So a very good author, fair play KM.
Always admired John Steinbeck. My fav. authoress of the moment is Santa Montefiore.Fav. short story writer of all time is Guy de Maupassant.

Indeed rob, the first I read of his was The Firm. Never read a book so quickly.

For the first time in 13 years on Betfair I'm going to use that absurd phrase used by people who don't think others are entitled to an opinion. I don't actually mean it of course but this guy is such a good writer that he almost deserves it. Almost , but not quite.

That's the name I was trying to think of earlier. But once I've read paperbacks they go off in a box to to charity shops every now and again, so I had none to look at.

cmat. He's great for light reading. I don't want anything too serious so he fits the bill perfectly.
