It doesnt make it tax free though does it? Isnt it still taxable at your marginal rate.

No tax for those who die under the age of 75. For the rest it is planned to be taxable at your marginal rate. I suppose if withdrawals were under the personal allowance each year it would be tax free. Still, a decent step forward from 55% death tax!

'It appears that pensions can be passed onto grandchildren - just as with any other asset - benefiting from their unused annual personal allowance, currently even children are allowed up to £10,500 a year income before paying tax.

Thanks Gerry. You are a nice chap too.
I happen to believe that the most important thing for us all wrt Governments in the long term is running the economy. I think the blues have a much better record in this respect and that this benefits us ALL in the long run. These are extraordinary times having suffered the largest financial crisis in most of our lifetimes. (I don't blame any party for the bulk of our troubles) |

This is unavoidable. To get the economy working you have to make it more appealing for people to invest in new business, to employ more staff etc. I think many people have it in for those that are wealthier than them. Even if we had a flat rate of tax, the wealthy would be paying a lot more in taxes, yet with our higher rates of tax, they are paying disproportionately more and I think that this is bad for business. In my opinion, If we had a low, flat rate tax, Britain would be booming for ALL.

By:
Totally agree that flat-rate tax is the way to go. They should also phase out working tax credits etc. and make companies pay low-paid people a better wage rather than the government subsidising them.
|
|
By:
They should also stop millions of people coming from across the globe to deflate wages, the only people that benifit from mass imigration is business.

By:
Yes lets keep wages high so we can't export anything
