exactly, and having lots of nice food and drink in the house .. no need for a fridge, just stick beers outside ... how good is it being in the house when it's snowing outside

i thought it was jut me

no wonder bookies are dead now with all the bright lights

Christmas Eve 2010


The coldest December for a century. Day after day of temperatures failing to rise above freezing. A mile and a half trek across fields and lanes blocked with a foot of snow to get to the village shop for Christmas supplies. Christmas Day spent sledging until that unique, eerie blue light descended thanks to the ultra-rare coincidence of 100& snow cover and the shortest days of the year.

I've never felt more grateful to be alive.

Dislike hot ,much more at home in the cold.Remember cold Sunday mornings as captain of the football team berating anyone
wearing vests/t-shirts under their shirts,certainly wouldnt stand anyone in gloves(goalkeeper excepted).Recall Steven Gerrard
telling the story of him playing in the U-12s,his dad watched him every game.But on this occasion his dad turned up to see
Gerrard playing in gloves.He walked away immediately.Waiting at home he told young Gerrard "Son if I ever see you playing in gloves again I'll kick your ****ing arse".

Makes sense to wear gloves if you are cold.  Especially in rugby, when your hands get cold it is harder to catch the ball, wonder if there is a rule against it, if you got rubbert pimpled gloves would be much easier to catch a rugby ball.

I like all the seasons and their transitions, it's a privilege to exist and I feel facking lucky to appreciate that.

I do like the seasons in the UK, I got totally fed up of 40 Celcius when I lived in Spain.

I only enjoy the winter because of the national hunt racing that comes with it.

I know somebody who has a place out there and they said it could be quite cool in winter

Feb and March get chilly at night no moves, the heat in July and August is merciless.I was there recently and it was 35 C every day. I lived there for 6 years and you do get used to it but a nice Autumnal day like today in London suits me fine.

Depends on how warm your home is.  During the cold winter a few years back I sat wearing a coat and hat watching my breath....even me olive oil went cloudy!

i can understand liking it when your nice and cosy but i"am a postman and i can tell you it ain"t much fun out there

When I was still working I used to hate the first day after the clocks went back and coming home in the dark.

The best thing about Winter is,of course,Jump Racing.

and then read OP comments and thought it very strange, but then again each to their own, so to speak.
BTW I don't like Dale Winton, but winter's ok if you're indoors and it's nice and warm.

Doesn't bother me now I'm retired. No need to leave the house if the weather turns really bad.

I prefer them in the Caribbean.

Sleep with fan on all year round. I love the chill.

wonderful ,except you get about 2 days of snow in this stupid country .

High fuel costs, crappy centrally heated air, viruses, dark dull weather, ice making walking and driving a nightmare at times.
Snows good when it comes once every 4 years ,other than that its crap. Looking forward to spring and the Cheltenham festival.

tbf  England ,Belgium, France,Northern Spain ,Ireland ...all the Atlantic countries aren't great   weather wise in winter,same weather day in day out  .

it's gloomy, drizzly,chilly  ,damp ,dark  -  8c and drizzle or just cloudy and 8c  ... nothing like folk make out ,occasional gales and fog  but still unlikely - better to be somewhere really cold ,somewhere where you can call winter ..Canada ,USA , Russia ,Sweden.  -25 ...get your gear round that

Winter in England is glooom ,its just glooooom 8c and the next day gloom and 8c ...and so it goes on for 5 solid months

If you like winter weather Schalke at least your living in the right country at the right time. Wish is was born in 100 years time, UK could have the climate of southern Spain due to global warming

It had better get a move-on, then, with global temperatures having shown no rise for the last 18 years.

it's not the cold that's the problem - it's rarely that cold in England tbf

it's the gloom and the damp , the short days  affects the psyche and sends folk mad /depressed - not to mention 2 months of Christmas

how many densely populated countries get the same short days  as Scotland ?
