Npower gotta be kidding me. We have a one bedroom flat with 3 radiators. We both work so even last winter it was only on in the evening and the morning. We have an electric cooker as well.

My March to September breakdown was 700 quid and the heating hasn't been on at all during that time period, all we used is water to do the dishes every day or two.

gonna call them now, wish me luck.

2K is miles and miles too much for your property according to your usage, Blackestnight.

Ask them to check the calibration of your meter, then hold the engineer hostage.

that can't be right. Have got 16 rads and run Calor gas, and it's £1500 a year max.

Live above a hair dressers !! My dad pays 100 a month for a 3 bedroom house, they both retired so the heating and gas fire always on to the point of the extreme, and they have a gas cooker.

Just phoned them, gave them a probably still way off reading of 8897. Checked my neighbours meter as we both had new heating systems put in at the same time, his is 400 units.

I reckon someone has tapped into your supply,  my house is a decent size and the gas/electric combined is less than that. And that’s with a mrs that won’t turn fkn lights off!!!!

Should be a HUMAN right for everyone to live in a property with a minimum temp of 21 C. The same rights that the prisoners enjoy in this country

If the bills don't get paid.....then the power companies should get the baliffs in.. DONT CUT OFF THE JUICE.

Make sure they have the correct adderess.  I used to live at a place that was often confused with a Chinese takeaway down the road, had the gas board round implying they'd had a report that we were fiddling the meter.
Report tinkler September 25, 2014 5:08 PM BST
Tiurn all the gas appliances off , then take a look at your gas meter ,if its still going round you've got a leak ,if you have turn the lever and shut the supply down and phone the number on the meter. If it isn't going round then turn on each appliance  and check how quick its going round for each appliance.

If it's a leak or somebody is nefariously tapping into the supply, will the poor chap get everything back he's overpaid?
Report blackestnight September 25, 2014 5:51 PM BST
Pokerdane, I haven't paid a penny yet and im not going to till its sorted.

As for any leak, dosnt look like it but still miles out.

After timing I know but if possible its always best to take your own meter readings to ensure that you're only billed for what you use.

Years ago my dad got a ridiculously high bill and he contacted the local MP after British Gas would not budge on their estimated bill. Surprise surprise once they were contacted by the MP's office the bill was greatly reduced.

it wouldn't cost me £700 for my whole years electric bill

have wondered how much extra it'd cost for a 2 bed house with gas central heating , but surely it can't be too much , I only pay it to the greedy management company for my flat anyway , may as well be blowin it all on gas instead !

People have a habit of understating their usage but it does sound a lot, even by N-powers daylight robbery standards.

They could well have the wrong MPR number(meter number) and be billing you on someone else's meter nearby. Check your MPR number. Find it out via 0870 608 1524 - then ring N-Power and check it matches.

If correct you need to check your opening meter reads from when you've moved to what they are now and work it out, again making sure you are reading the correct meter.

Live above a hair dressers

Oh, classic scenario here. You are either reading the wrong meter or they are billing you to the wrong meter (to that of the hair dresses). Either way should be pretty simple to sort out.
Report GLASGOWCALLING September 25, 2014 11:43 PM BST
suggest you change energy providers if and when this bill is sorted. also agree with other poster who said as i do and send in your

own meter readings.
