It was excellent. David Morrissey in the lead role was ( as usual ) brilliant. Such a good reliable actor in these kind of roles.
Report call me a taxi September 24, 2014 5:14 PM BST
I watched it.
Not a big fan of his, but not bad for an opening episode.
His Mrs is a dead ringer for my best mates wife.
I never knew that about Manchester taxis, can't pick up passengers on the street.

Isn't this the same everywhere? Only black cabs are allowed to pick up passengers off the street round here too. People do refer to private hire cars as taxis, or even cabs, which may be the cause of any confusion.
Report call me a taxi September 24, 2014 5:30 PM BST
Hire cars were called minicabs in east London.
Fack knows why, none of them were minis.
I never tried to flag one down in the street, so I don't know if it's the same there.

vehicles carrying a hackney licence can be hailed anywhere and wait on ranks at stations etc., non hackney vehicles can only be pre-booked
Report call me a taxi September 24, 2014 5:46 PM BST
I don't want to go to Hackney. Silly

David Morrissey and Sheridan Smith probably the best in any drama.

Morrissey was brilliant in Blackpool....well worth watching,if not seen.

David Morrissey is a very good actor and seems to specialise in playing  disillusioned, frustrated middle aged men.  So I can see why he would be popular on this forum
Report 1st time poster September 24, 2014 6:59 PM BST
isnt he playing nearly the same character as the bloke on the train last year, middle aged crisis turning to crime this time last time it was another woman
Report sixtwosix September 24, 2014 7:27 PM BST
Enjoyable ,but not believable drama.
Spoilt by the ham fisted part where he was unable to stop 2 smashed out of their heads young woman stealing his nights takings ....cringeworthy.
Report mememe September 25, 2014 4:11 PM BST
Has he changed number plates after being chased by police?
If not, why not?
All a bit (no, a lot) unbelievable.
Report mememe September 25, 2014 4:12 PM BST
And why were the police chasing him in the first place?
Maybe I missed something.
Report i_agree_with_nick September 25, 2014 4:42 PM BST
I think his "boss" said that the plates were untraceable.

He was speeding.

Thing the girls weren't really drunk. They effectively mugged him. One distracted him, whilst the other stole the cash. Clever scam imo.
Report i_agree_with_nick September 25, 2014 8:26 PM BST
Didn't she hit him on the head from behind with the heel of her shoe?
Report Dan Chipowski September 25, 2014 8:37 PM BST
Nah, don't take it from him, mate.
He's a knobhead.
No, honestly, he's a knobhead.
Ronnie, Ronnie, listen.
He's a knobhead.
Ronnie, listen to me.
The man is a knobhead...
Knobhead. He's a knobhead, Ronnie.
Listen to me, what I'm saying.

Just finished watching episode 3.Very entertaining and gripping piece of drama.David Morrissey was excellent (as per) and i can thoroughly recommend a download.9/10.

Really good series but a very tame & poor ending in my opinion.

Really good series but a very tame & poor ending in my opinion.

Always seems to be the way with these two and three-part dramas. I was expecting a more dramatic ending or a final twist.

'Inside Men' was another great series with a very disappointing conclusion.
Report PugMunter1 October 9, 2014 4:43 PM BST
very good enjoyed it although the 3rd episode was very rushed

could have got another few episodes out of it - showing the court trial and the aftermath

a dissapointing end to a promising drama
Report i_agree_with_nick October 9, 2014 4:47 PM BST
PM - I was going to (semi-seriously) suggest there could be a sequel
Report doantwin2easy October 9, 2014 4:47 PM BST
yes, i was thinking one of the leader of the gang would have a gun to his sons head when he turned up because they had rumbled him.
Report i_agree_with_nick October 9, 2014 4:48 PM BST
I definitely thought there was something lurking at the service station
Report PugMunter1 October 9, 2014 4:55 PM BST
nick i think they missed a trick by rushing it over the 3

do you like your crime dramas? If so may i suggest Ray Donovan?

best thing on telly
Report bigH October 9, 2014 10:57 PM BST

Overated imo, not too much action.
Report Mc Moonbeam October 10, 2014 1:29 AM BST
I agree , though enjoyed it these mini dramas always start really well then seem to end in a ball of fire , the acting is decent so maybe they're just badly written or rushed out in the first place

Inside Men & the one a few months back with Tommy kidnapping the rich daughter were better though imo
Report Mc Moonbeam October 10, 2014 1:30 AM BST
They should take a bit more time & make them 6 episodes instead
Report Pounf October 10, 2014 5:26 AM BST
Very disappointing end to the Driver - which had been quite good. Agree about Ray Donovan, thats very good

Agreed, very poor final episode. It was if they'd run out of ideas, and just rushed/ wound up all the loose ends to bring the thing to some sort of conclusion. After such a good start and what promised to be an excellent storyline, it was a disappointing end.

his friend who lived to be part of the gang give it up for a few grand even though sed friend was the reason he,d been beaten to within an inch of his life
his best friend fellow taxi driver dobbed him in it with the police for no apparent reason
Report pumphol. October 12, 2014 2:44 PM BST
This seems to be a British trait with dramas, they invariably end in disappointment, I cannot understand how this happens so often, yes if its a bad show to start with who gives a toss but you get a decent show as this was & the writers, production staff or whoever just do not know how to end a show like this, personally half way through the last episode & his family not wanting to up roots I thought he would end up dead for the sake of his family, all I thinking was how it was going to happen, to say the ending was disappointing is being kind.
Report Roger The Butler October 12, 2014 9:05 PM BST
Agree with nearly all of the above comments.

For a show that had been brutal throughout, the baddies all get picked up and surrender without firing a shot, the boss guy also found easily and surrenders meekly, Morrissey gets his son back randomly out of the blue (weird subplot - why did he go? why did the wife blame him? how did he get sucked into a cult and why did he suddenly choose to come back? - not sure what the point of this extra layer was if there was no explanation or detail to it) and presumably therefore kept his wife.

All neat and tidy and a happy ending, which wasn't what the programme promised or deserved.
