Anybody else get annoyed with this unneeded request for personal information from retailers and other service providers?
Today so far, American Golf Shop Assistant wants my postcode, address and name to sell me a golf club. I ask why and am told for the warranty on the item, which is an absolute lie, they want your details to profile and spam you, nothing more or less. I refused to provide details and tell them to just ring it through the till. Then Halifax banking wants you to update personal details online that aren't required, I guess for similar reasons. I just press continue and will carry on doing so.
Also had this before when buying electrical goods, even things as small as a small kettle.
It's their way of trying to con you out of your private personal details, so just tell them to process the bill and let's stop this nonsense.

too late for most people, once you've submitted this information once, it's out there forever and these companies will just buy & sell it to each for ever, no matter what their so called privacy policies state.

It's not enough to sell you a few tins of beans anymore - they have to own you body and soul. Hence, all the creepy soap-opera-style adverts with fake families and a variety of fake lovey actor coonts all showing how much they care. Aaaaah the nice. Now empty your wallet for a bag of Disney sh1t and the green car that protects your wife and babies while saving the world.
Sounds like you putter a spanner in their works by not supplying your email.
I can see why someone would want to driver wedge between themselves & this kind of behavior.
Making a stand goes a fairway towards stopping this kind of service.
These people have a chip on their shoulder in my experience. I can understand if you are teed off.
it's a bit of a red flag when they ask for unnecessary info, hope you weren't too rough on them... though it is par for the course nowadays, privacy is a thing of the past.
