During the old screenings of TOTP recently there was a glimpse of Jimmy Savile.

Would it bother you if you saw it?

There are many 'glimpses' of Hitler on different programmes, and nobody says a word.

But a total of 7 (yes, 7) were upset at a glimpse of Savile, and they let the BBC know it.

You will most certainly be relieved to know, and be able to sleep tonight, that the the 'glimpse' has been removed from the BBC I-Player.

Did Jimmy Saville actually have a radio show? When was his last show on the bbc? Radio, telly or otherwise.

Wouldn't worry me in the slightest. Did a lot of good work.

Left 5 million to charity and raised 50 in his lifetime. Of course he had his bad points as well.

The difference might be it was the bbc that let him get away with his crimes. I don't think you can blame them for Hitler's behaviour.

The hysteria is understandable but FFS it is still hysteria. It is not as if he is going to reach out of the telly and fondle your daughters. At least with Gary Glitter there was a point to not playing his records: it denied him a few pennies in royalties.

I'd tell those seven people to grow up and not to be so damn stupid!

Perhaps they were seven of his 'alleged' victims who are trying to erase the memory of their ordeal. I would imagine that many families have very personal reasons as to why they think that he should be erased from all records.

At least with Gary Glitter

I wonder if the presenters get repeat fees for Top of the Pops and if they do, would his heirs be paid every time he's shown? I'd assume so.

Poor "alleged" victims have been well rewarded. Up to 60k each.

What, ALL of them??!! I don't think that most of the children actually negotiated a rate with him. Angry

And you can add to that that most of his victims are probably still unknown...and always will be.

"alleged" victims. He was never found guilty.

With regard to this issue, probably any victims who'd be traumatised by seeing the old perve on TOTP have been avoiding the programme for the last several decades anyway.

Gobby minorities should never boss an agenda however morally upright their cause may seem.

Since this is conjecture anyway about who exactly the callers were,  I still say they should be told to go forth an multiply.

There's a difference between Hitler and Saville. Hitler's atrcocities were there for all to see. Saville's are merely hearsay as there was no court case.

That's if you can use that word when there's no case which I doubt.

Not to mention that Hitler is on telly all the time despite there being a lot more victims. The BBC has made several major comedy series set in ww2 without worrying about "feelings".

Boy George was jailed for 15 months for falsely imprisoning a male escort, so when BBC4's weekly Top of the Pops repeats the 80's in a couple of years  Culture Club should be  cut out, or is it just the paedophiles?
