Arild Stavrum, ex-Aberdeen footballer, was on Off the Ball on Radio Scotland on Saturday. It's funny how you can watch or hear something non-political, and it tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about being a so called "nation."
Report Velasquez September 22, 2014 12:47 PM BST
Arild told the two supposedly learned hosts about the Norwegian Dissolution Referendum of 1905, when Norway gained independence from Sweden...previously, Norway had been attached to Denmark. Arild joked that it was "like a Saddaam Hussein vote."

85.4% turnout, women did not have the vote, yet Norwegian suffragists collected 244,675 votes for dissolution of the Union.

368,208 - "yes"

184 - "no"

3,519 - spoiled votes.

And that, Scottish bottlers, is a Nation.

Absolutely nothing to do with "bottle", you're showing yourself up with your ignorance.

I'm English born to an English mother and Scottish father and was brought up in Scotland until I was eight.

I consider my nationality as British. I wasn't eligible to vote but would have been a cast iron NO. My own father could have been a foreigner almost overnight with a YES vote majority.

The Scots instigated the Union, we all live on a small island and most of us have bloodlines from both sides of Hadrian's Wall. We don't want our families to be foreigners. We're better together for countless reasons.
Report Velasquez September 22, 2014 3:11 PM BST
Great - I'll gladly take that on-board for "countless reasons"...along with "I wasn't eligible to vote..."

Have a nice day, Nigel.

And the insults from yes voters continues.

There was no indication that Scotland wanted to leave the Union. There was two years of campaigning from both sides before the referendum and still after all this time the people spoke and wished to remain in the Union as was thought all along. Only a numpty could think that is treachery or bottling. It's called democracy.

How on earth can someone say Scotland should be independent and decide it's own future and then when it decides it's future to remain in the Union piss and moan because it wasn't the decision you wanted?

People are far more likely to look back in the future and see how divisive this whole thing was as the 45% rather than focusing on creating a better future in a devolved Scotland focus their negative energy on insults and boycotts.
Report Geesyerdosh September 22, 2014 11:20 PM BST
I would say the majority of NO voters wished for the status quo to remain for their own self preservation. Nothing else.

It's the people that keep mentioning 'union this, union that' who I would guess had other agendas for it.

Like I said a sad living in the dark ages fantasy outlook on life. All you can show to them is pity. Poor deluded souls Sad

Can't find the 16/17 vote isolated but this would seem to suggest you are wrong. Cool

16-24 was 51%-49% NO
25-39 was 55%-45% YES
