I just MADE the chance Parachute. I got out of my chair, and went into a different room, and then to the window to look at the moon - and you're right:
It is a Lovely Moon.

I got out for 5 mins last night and seen the Moon barely visible through the clouds. I've recently bought a 50mm eyepiece for my scope for nice wide views of the sky, I should be able to get the whole Moon in the field of view. I've still to use it along with a Moon filter to dim the brightness and show some more contrast. Also bought a pair of Celestron 15 x 70mm binoculars from Tesco, £58 although I got some discount, they should arrive on Thursday.
The Astronomy Picture of the Day on my phone today shows the Super Moon v's a Micro Moon. Remember the super Moon can be covered with your thumb at arms length so there's nothing that spectacular about it.

If you've a pair of binoculars, Uranus is only 1° from the Moon tonight (it get's eclipsed if your in Greenland/ Canada around 2am). It should be a pale blue colour although bins won't resolve a disk. Probably a good chance to see it although not sure how the bright Moon will affect it. I'm cloudy atm
If you haven't already, download the free Stellarium.org to see what's in the night sky.
Astronomy is a hobby of mine although I'm more of an armchair astronomer. I have a small telescope and I've just bought those Celestron bins out of Tesco. I deffo couldn't sit out all night but I do go out in small spells at times
There was a thread a few months ago, not sure where it's went.

I can't see , he must be hiding around the other side of my flat
I noticed earlier they're selling binoculars in Lidl , looked quite smart from what I saw

McMoon, I own a pair of 10 x 50's bought out of Lidl for ?£15?. I've read good reviews on them and was told they were a Bresser model rebranded. I found mine were out of collimation and I haven't fixed them properly despite trying a few times. They are useable but not great, I suspect if they were collimated correct they would be good value.
Just as I type this I done a search on them http://www.skyatnightmagazine.com/forum/lidl-bino-s-t109270.html Reading what others have said confirms my post so I guess it's hit and miss if you get a good pair. If you don't then you'll have to get someone who knows how to collimate them properly (I certainly don't)
My 15x70's arrived earlier and they certainly don't have any problems. Clear crisp images but holding them steady is a bit of a problem. They came with a tripod connector so I'll give that a go.
I'm very light polluted and a casual observer so these bins are ideal.

Read somewhere today there is a chance we will be able to see the Northern lights in Southern Britain tonight, due to some extra solar activity. Looks like a clear sky here in S. Wales, will pop out later for a gander.
