Have you ever thought about it.Most people who do a family tree are truly amazed when they find out that someone famous from a past generation were related to them.who knows perhaps you are a related to a king or a famous writer.And you can search on the internet.happy hunting.
Some years ago, the Church of Latter Day Saints took it upon themselves to pray everyone into heaven, even if they are already dead. To this end they trawled parish records etc. to make a database. The problem is they didn't do it very well and - as any bona fide geaneologist will tell you - their records are notoriously inaccurate.
Unfortunately it's these records you're searching if you trace your family tree via the internet. The only sure-fire way is to engage someone reputable, or get your walking boots on and do it yourself.
Which is what my dad did.
