Is it time to shut the port down, we can't trust France anymore ... thousands of people are getting into our country because of France. Or is it time the order of "shoot on sight" warning for breaching national security be given ...

We can't keep being soft about the port, it's doing a lot of damage to the UK

How about we shoot you instead.

These immigrants are coming for a better life, and you want to shoot them for it? ffs

It's the politicians that need the gun to the head, they are the cause, the immigrants are the symptoms.

If Britain never had a welfare state, people wouldn't be running to Britain, they'd be running from it.

I said a "shoot on sight" warning ... they have no right to illegally enter a country, it is them that are in the wrong ... you can't just go to a country because you feel like it

Do you think it might be worthwile to emigrate to Calais for a while, maybe 6 months
or a year. ? They seem to be setting up a new centre for migrants with food and access to
computers etc. Might give it a go.

Why this country?  They're already in Europe.  They've got Spain to the left, Belgium and the Netherlands to the right and they're in France.

I would guess that many of them speak English as their second language, so it should be easier to get work. They may also have heard reports that the British are less heavy-handed regarding illegal immigrants.

You can't blame the French for these 'illegals' they are heartily sick of them and desperately want Britain to do something about it...it's not just us who have border control problems.
Report call me a taxi September 5, 2014 11:57 AM BST
The immigrants are in Calais.

Last time I checked, Calais was in France.

So they are the responsibility of France.

The Mayor of Calais has threatened to close the port unless the British do something!!

Now you know why so many get onto lorries and into the UK, the French let them hide on vehicles coming here.

They have carbon dioxide detectors that are poked under the sheet without breaking any of the vehicle cable seals. It tells them if there is a stowaway on the trailer, even if it's only one.

Which makes it hard for them to explain how 2 lorries have been stopped in the past fortnight, one in a service station on the M5, and one near Peterborough, with a total of over 20 immigrants on them.

20 on just two lorries!! Imagine how many are getting through.

Assuming these immigrants can read English, as most of the latest ones captured appear to be Afghanis, can they not understand what 'high unemployment' means?

So why come here?

Border Patrol raided a butcher's shop in Newham last week on PickTV.

There were 6 illegal immigrants working there.

In just one shop!!

The female in charge told the shop owner 'You're getting a £60,000 fine.'

He shrugged his shoulders.

You can have 20/1 it gets paid.

The French have repeatedly told them that they can claim asylum in France
but maybe  they think the streets of London are paved with gold.

New Labour wont do anything as they assume immigrants will vote for them.
Conservatives wont do anything as they provide cheap labour
Lib Dems wont do anything, its in their DNA to welcome all comers.
UKIP would try and do something about it which is why all the other
parties hate them with a passion.
U.K. Population is on its way to 80 million of which nearly 70 million
will be in England.

And the Tax Credit bill for low paid immigrants is estimated to be in the region of £5 billion a year.

But IDS wants to lower the benefits annual bill.

Classic 'Left hand has no idea what right is doing' scenario.

CMAT. Would it not be a good idea for us to carry out the same CO2 checks, then? If one reaches the conclusion that the French are not doing 'their' job adequately then maybe we should borrow their equipment and show them how to do it! I would have thought that there would have been higher rates of CO2 present...thereby making detection easier.

I also think that 'high unemployment' means very little when you have absolutely nothing and very little chance of betterment.
"Why come here"? Well, perhaps while reading about high unemployment they also read about being paid benefit money far in excess of their present lifestyle. Plus other bonuses that they could only dream of.

I will, however, have to agree that Calais IS still in France! Happy
Report call me a taxi September 5, 2014 1:12 PM BST
UK Border Patrol are already in Calais.

They also have CO2 detectors.

Need you ask which lorries are getting through, those checked by UK Border Patrol staff,  or those checked by the French, who just want rid of the lot of them?

I said on here years ago that a sub-saharan african who lives in a corrugated iron and mud hut, and thinks water is a luxury, would be quite happy to come here and serve a 15 year sentence for murder, in a '3 meals a day, roof over your head' British Prison.

I was told I was racist.

Check the UK prison population, and how many are african.

Quite a high percentage last time I got the figures.

It's like I said. You can hardly blame the French. They've ended up with loads of 'illegals' in ever-more desperate groups hanging around their ferry ports. I can only assume that a lot of local crime and damage is resulting from this. What are the French supposed to do about it? Keep them in Calais? It's like trying to herd cats!
I don't blame them for saying 'keep them in Britain for a while'. We need to create some holding camps for them. Possibly a whole new industry for an independent Scotland. Somewhere nice and north and accessible only by boat...a bit like Devil's Island(?). It might be OK for them in summer, but their first winter should see them getting homesick! No internet access, no mail deliveries...whatever it takes to make them want to go home.
Firm but fair.  SadSadSad

Yes, but I would not be an "immigrant" I would do any move I made the proper and legal way .. I would not enter the back of a lorry and smuggle myself into another country without permission
