Realised today all of them now have majority of Muslim people living near by.

One of the things businesses can't predict.

Loads of east end pubs in London shut down when the docks closed. Dockers took their redundancy pay and moved away.

The influx of thousands of non-drinking muslims saw loads more close over the next 25 years.

Just been on Google Maps - these are pubs that I played darts in, and have all gone since 2002/3.

My local, The Sultan, where Joe Browns dad was the licensee years ago, was demolished. There's a block of flats there now.

The Nottingham Arms was converted into flats.

The Prince of Wales was converted into flats.

The Greengate is now a Tesco Express, on the other side of the road, The Castle is now a Betfred Shop.

The Greyhound is a restaurant.

The Prince Albert is a 'Bangla Bazar'

The Coach and Horses is boarded up.

The Lord Raglan was converted into flats.

The Beaconsfield was converted into flats.

The Swan looks like it's closed down.

The Trossachs was converted into flats.

The New Gog was converted into flats.

And that's just the district of  Plaistow, by the time Stratford, Upton Park, Forest Gate, Manor Park, East Ham, Beckton, North Woolwich, Silvertown, Canning Town and Custom House have been added, it will be a pretty long list.

Canning Town Working Men's Club (demolished)is a bit of waste ground now, no doubt be flats on it soon.

They should have had smoking areas / rooms. Some countries have them, like a side room with big extractors in the ceiling. It's pragamatic, but the point of the ban wasn't to just protect non smokers, it was health nazis victimising smokers to try and force them to stop.

Result is old guys sitting alone in the house with a bottle, instead of in a social setting.

I'm looking at that list of pubs that you used to frequent that have closed taxi and beginning to think that you're a bit of a jinx. Laugh

They were just the pubs I played darts in.

Plenty more were closed that I didn't play darts or drink in.

I would assume that the Darts League has collapsed as well as most of the players moved out of London.

I could only see 2 pubs on Google Maps in Plaistow that I played in that were still open.

The Army & Navy (used to be run by a bookie, he sold it to two rug munchers - still a good pub though) and The Princess Alexandria, which is used by the local plod for parties etc.

Dart teams were a fair income for pubs.

A minium of 16 players supping up to 10 pints each is a nice few bob every other Wednesday night.

In the Sultan, the whole team turned up every Sunday and played 'Killer' for money. I made betting available on it, and a fair few of the other locals, who weren't in the team, also joined in. All good fun.

A few pubs had two teams so that one of them was playing at home every week.

Other pubs were in two leagues, clock board and 5 board, on different nights.
