:O ... go see your doctor !!

this usually happens when people suffer from sleep paralysis, but normally when they've over slept, if it's happening after 5 minutes then it's may have something to with smoking, which can increase throat inflammation and fluid retention blocking your airways, put vapor rub on your chest before sleep to help you breathe better and stop shoving cancer sticks in your mouth hth

My sister has this, but she hasn't smoked for 37 years.
She smoked for 5 years until she became pregnant with her first child, then she packed up. I haven't got it, and I've been smoking for 46 years, and I've never been pregnant either. ![]() |

Go to your doctor NOW! You need a special machine which you connect to at night when sleeping. You are gambling with your life if you don`t.

There are several things that can cause sleep apnoea, including obesity and obstructed airways - does the OP snore a lot. It may simply require a change of posture to free up the airways, also weight loss if obesity is a factor. Do not panic, mechanical ventilation (as suggested by the mightymac) may be indicated but is very much a last resort if other preventative action doesn't work. Definitely go and see your GP about it though, especially if you wake up with severe headaches, which would indicate a buildup of CO2 due to inadequate exhalation when sleeping.

definitely see a doctor... a 27 year old lass passed away in her sleep from this a couple of years back, she was an old high school friend of my girlfriend. it's truly gambling with your life if you don't find ways to alleviate it.

A friend of mine had it and didn`t know. His heart would stop beating each night during sleep and restart until the night it didn`t. Go to a doctor mate. It`s easily treated.
