Five gecko lizards sent into orbit on a Russian space satellite as part of a sex experiment have all died, the Russian space agency says.
The Foton-M4 satellite returned to Earth on Monday, the Roscosmos agency said in a statement (in Russian).
Experts say the geckos may have frozen to death after the heating system broke down, Russian news agencies report.
They were sent into space as part of a study into the effect of weightlessness on their sex lives and development.

FFS this is going to put back the science of studying how weightlessness effects Geckos' sex lives for years.
As the Dalai Lama said, Life is as dear to a mute creature as it is to man. Just as one wants happiness and fears pain, just as one wants to live and not die, so do other creatures.
Get real, Kenny! They did it for the fame and the glamour! If they'd survived and returned to Earth, they'd have been made for life. What gecko could refuse a tap-up line "I'm a Cosmonaut".
