I'm sick of this country, sick of my pointless life, hate everything that is here. I feel I work just to make other people money. Ok I have a roof over my head and food on my table but that doesn't make us happy here ... Just pack a bag and leave, possible? Not possible?

yes, the only real reason/excuse for not going wherever you like is family. other than that, why not? helps if you have some cash tucked away.

It is possible especially if you have nothing to lose but you will need money to eat pretty soon.
All countries worth going to have strict immigration and employment rules so you had better have worthwhile skills to offer. You can get away with being an illegal immigrant making a living from temporary seasonal work for a while but it's no way to live long term.
You have the right to live and work in any EU country but good jobs are as hard to come by as here and there are no easy options. You may have to learn a new language very quickly too.

It may be best to look for or train for another job where you may feel more valued. e.g. in a small company.

definatly thaught about this also, sick off where i live, no work and its fu cking crap, im 30 next july, im hoping to be gone by that
Me ? not really - i should be living in a tent and eating beans on toast every day . I can only be bothered with anything if it requires very minimal effort

I am always pleased for other people as well if they find success - i don't have an envious nature

if that house you have bought is in london that you have done very well, considering the INSANE amount of money that a few bricks and water costs, people that CHOOSE to live in london are INSANE
definately not London - and yes,i would welcome a house price correction - a house is a house and should be for living in and not an asset

In my life I've lived in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Spain. Always had good jobs and had a thoroughly great time but there is no place like home and I'm very happy to be back in South London. You can just upsticks but you need to do it for the right reasons and have financial and mental stability and preferably a devoted partner. If it's just escapism your after then plan a year off and travel the world but don't burn your bridges back here as your big odds on in my book to come back to your roots.

good luck to you schalke04 whatever you decide to do.if I could pass on a small piece of advice I was given many years ago. we are on this planet for a very short time and it is not a rehersal for something different. make the most of it and have no regrets in anything you do. sad to say it is easier said than done, but only you know what you want from life. 
ca. 80 years = ca. 29,200 days - this is not a short time for most!

You need to identify all the things that are doing your head in and just stop doing them. (job/relationships/social life etc)
At the same time, identify all the things you like doing, and then do more of those things
If you hate working for "the man", then pack it in and become self-employed.

Many live much shorter lives than that conductor. My dad died at 49 ca. 20 years ago He essentially smoked himself to death. He even carried on smoking after a heart bypass.

I'm fine thanks conductor. My grandad (dad's father) lived until he was ca 87 and since I don't smoke, I hope I have a fair few years left!
Not if you leave with your family and sick child it is not - you will have the hoardes chasing you!!!

have being the operative word - i think everyone should 'work' to some extent as long as the job has some meaning - even stacking shelves has a point to it ,except most 'work' in the UK is so utterly pointless .
Most commutes are even more pointless .
Most companies simply annoy folk - cold calls,sales,adverts ....yeah,most jobs are just awful . Take the betting industry,it creates misery . Me making a living at betting makes someone elses life a misery somewhere ,if i worked for Virgin Media or Aviva i'd be making someone elses life a misery - do you understand that ? most work actually serves no physical beneficial purpose .
Our luxury in the UK for example is a misery tab picked up in the Far East ,it's all a zero sum game fella

I was for 10 years yes crags ... now am in a terrible job that I hate with a passion and I need out, and need out fast !! My capital for my betting is low otherwise I would just chuck the job and live off betting again but it's going to take time to build the capital up to make that possible, that's how I feel like just buying a one way ticket and disappearing

I am self employed, that's the problem .. days go by that I just can't be bothered working, yet all the money I earn goes straight out to others, Ive come down a path that I never thought I would go down, I should be doing better than this. Ok I'm grateful for what I have at the moment but I'm just not happy. My job is the big problem yes, no relationships to talk of and the social life, well, my social life is watching sports and doing my betting ...

My plan is to get out of here in 2016, that gives me time to sort things out, my dad is going through tough time and that's holding me back a little ... also, I feel I am on the way to making some really decent money via betting and if I could abroad then there are the restrictions etc etc ... but, as for packing a bag and just going, I feel like doing it right now
I'm in Mexico at the moment Schalke.I love it here...people are really friendly and it's cheap although not as cheap as some other Latin American countries.
I have been to all the countries in Latin America.
Mexico and Colombia are by far my favorite.

I wanted to do it 5 years ago but I just got lazy and never done anything about it, now I regret it ever since ... everyday that goes by now I could have been somewhere else doing better than now ... I am determined to get this done, fix finances and have no baggage when I leave, clean slate n all that
I feel my life will be a disaster if I don't do it this time ... meeting a lovely foreign girl would be the icing on the cake !!

You can. Sold everything (except a rental property) near 3 years ago and wife and I came to New Zealand as a tourist. Never left. Spent most of past 3 years housesitting for rich folks, paying practically nothing in rent or bills and saved enough for a deposit for a our own place. Bought last month. Down side was moving home 12+ times in 2.5 years but.......

I have a friend in his mid 50s who sold his house in London gave up his job and bought a static caravan on a quiet site on the south coast, his ground rent is just over £2000 per year works out to around £40 per week plus he has to pay leccy bills twice a year around £300 ,plus a gas bottle every 3-4 months at £40 a time ,his caravan is luxuirious and has all mod cons he has Wi-Fi so can play on here when he wants ,he lives like a king to be fair in a nice part of the country as he has a fair bit of money to play with from the sale of his house ,doesn't work ,does a bit of buying and selling at auctions etc to keep his head above water and does as he pleases does a bit of sea fishing in the week or has a few pints in the local alehouses ,says he has never been so contented !
ground rent 2k.....my annual rental bill is 3k for a luxury apartment....less if you take the current exchange rate.
