Britain's terror threat level was dramatically raised to severe today amid fears that UK jihadists returning from Iraq and Syria could launch attacks.
The severe warning means an attack is “highly likely”, rather than the earlier assessment of substantial where a terror strike is “a strong possibility”. Home Secretary Theresa May stressed there was no intelligence to suggest an imminent attack.
After the decision by Britain’s Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre, she added: “The increase in the threat level is related to developments in Syria and Iraq, where terrorist groups are planning attacks against the West.
“Some of those plots are likely to involve foreign fighters who have travelled there from the UK and Europe to take part in those conflicts. We face a real and serious threat in the UK from international terrorism. I urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.”
Scotland Yard Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe warned days ago that close to 200 potentially “militarised” fighters are back in London. He also proposed UK jihadists have their passports revoked to stop them returning here.
Islamic State have slaughtered thousands as they seized control of swathes of Syria and Iraq. They also beheaded US journalist James Foley, 40, in revenge for US air strikes in Iraq to stop the killings. Mr Foley and other hostages were guarded by a group of British jihadists, known as “The Beatles”, with one — “John”— featuring in the video of his killing.
I actually think this is not scare mongering but really could and probably WILL happen, probably more tube attacks, if it does it would imagine the next government with have a coalition involving UKIP.

speaking to yourself acquiesce?, first sign of madness? you had no told to tell us you are a stupid phucking prat, your post rather proves it bob is of course right What evidence that anybody returning from Syria/Iraq has made any plot to harm us here a simple and obvious question Scotland Yard Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe and Theresa May are making irresponsible statements with no proof...unless they can produce an evidence of at least one case so where is it? as for 7/7 and Michael Adebolajo they were a direct of our invasion of Iraq..that is why they did what they did, in fact they said so so TONY BLAIR was responsible for those two acts, and other acts that have been foiled, nobody else As for an IS , I don't believe there is a threat, because where is the motive? but of course if we to directly confront IS in Iraq then we would make ourselves a potential target, but not until then |

We did not create ISIS. Their creation has been inevitable since militant Sunni Islam was born of Sayed Qtub. They do pose a threat to us. Their caliphate will not be enclosed by any border - it is their holy duty to extend its writ, through violence, throughout the world. Is it really possible to travel to Syria join up with the rebels and after a few months say to the bad guys "I'm off back to London now" actually it is, it happened, but before your time The Spanish Civil War, people travelled to Spain to fight on the side of either Fascism or Communism no one stopped them returning...although tbf they did not employ terrorist tactics Also you say Tony Blair was innocent of 7/7,etc...well that is factually true....but you see he gave those guys a cause He decided we would attack Iraq because they threatened us with fictitious wmds...the real reason I still don't know... maybe he just likes killing Muslims..but sadly he forgot we have a Muslim population of our own Who got angry, so we ourselves a now a potential target for terrorism...it was stupidity I have rarely seen the equal of You wonder why they hate us, well maybe it is because we invade their countries and kill them, perhaps??????????????
