It was ok if you like that sort of thing, trees, flowers, plants etc but the best part of the day was the Fullers pub(TAP ON THE LINE) adjacent to the station.Fullers ESB..what a stunning pint of ale.I've had the bottled stuff but this was on a different level and the pub itself was a beautiful example of Victorian railway architecture and the perfect place to sit and watch the world(and trains) go by.

The journey back to the other end of the district line(90 mins)to Elm Park was certainly enhanced by my visit to the tap on the line because i slept the whole journey .. hicHappy

Not good sleeping on a train with the ridiculous fares!

You need to stay awake to get your monies worth.

Sounds like some good relief from all the standing in line.

Elm park, the last time I went through Elm Park station, there is a longish slope between the entrance/exit and the platforms, remember just as I came through the entrance and began to walk towards the slope, Oprah music started to play on the tannoy and the further I walked the louder it got, felt like I was being marched towards death

Maybe this could turn into a valuable thread for philistine chit-chatters. Pubs near cultural centres and tourist attractions. The National Gallery's all right for people who like looking at old paintings but there's this great boozer just down the road ...

scanda and Ramru...very funny posts. You've made Mrs Twizzle and myself genuinely laugh out loudLaugh

P.S..scana..you are so right about that funeral music as you approach the platform..its ridiculous.

the ambience of Kew is somewhat compromised by a fecking great jumbo jet skimming your head every 2 minutes, but would agree that draught ESB is a sublime tipple.

Americans will want to know why the gardens were sited under a flightpath.

ESB in a good Fullers pub is the best pint I've had.
