If our group (band) were rehearsing I used to go to one of the guys houses, straight from school.

They lived in one of those "manky" post war pre-fabs that were supposed to be there for ten years, and I think some are still there now.

Every single night it was the same. Beans on toast for him, with a big cup of tea, followed by a four bar Kit-Kat.

Cup of tea for me.

Rex the Alsatian laid at his feet in anticipation of two bars of the Kit-Kat.

You can't get much meaner than that.

Also when he spent some time in the hospital I lent him all of my James Bond books and never got them back!

When we went golfing, a mate of mine, a self made millionaire, used to retrieve empty Irn Bru bottles from the bins at each tee and take them home to get the 20p on each of them.

Aunty Post always seems  like a more subtle version of that harry enfield character "i am considerably richer than you"

Really rob, I don't see that at all. If anything Aunty comes across as "It's only me" from The Harry Enfield Show. A nice well meaning person.

He just referred to a boyhood friend's house as "manky" then referred to him as stingy.  Money is a regular theme in his posts."its only me" was a bit of a tool imo.

I am in the mid point of a one week bender in the middle of an 18 week on the wagon session so my judgement is possibly a little clouded.

Mean and Stingy People are quite 'Rich' - is that a problem with people who aren't either?

I hope Rex had more than just two bars of Kit-Kat for his dinner Sad

I'm not sure I follow. Was this a sign of meanness or poverty?

It's a  bitterness from people who didn't make it and resent the people who did.
