I received an email saying to expect a delivery between 2.00 and 3.00. Van pulls up outside about 2.45. No problems so far.

The man gets out, has a look at the house. Then instead of getting the parcel out and knocking on my door, he just takes a photo of the house, gets back in his van and drives off before I can go outside and stop him. No card, nothing!!

5 minutes later I receive an email from Amazon saying sorry we couldn't deliver your parcel as there was no-one home to sign for it, and when I track it using the delivery company there's a photo of my house to prove he's been there.

Now I've got to arrange another day for delivery. What is the matter with these idiots?

No unfortunately it was not a framed picture of my house. Laugh It was some probiotics for my gastritis and numerous digestive issues, which I've had for 4 years now, and they need to be kept in the fridge.

So another day or two out on the road and they will be virtually useless. Think I'll wait until he delivers them, give him a piece of my mind if it's the same bloke, and tell him to send them back to Amazon.

I remember when I ordered my washing machine from Currys. The Currys van arrived at 8am (so lucky I got up early) and I opened the door to give the delivery driver a hand. Just as I was about to offer he rang my neighbours bell and proceeded to deliver a fridge freezer while I skulked back into the house. About 4pm my washing machine arrived on another van. Cry

We ordered two 6 feet rabbit hutches from Amazon about 7 years ago. Delivery date - Thursday, they couldn't give a time.

He turned up at 9-45 p.m.!! and I had to help him unload the whole lorry as our hutches were down the front.

I asked him why he was so late. He said it was the route he was given by his transport office in Liverpool.

His first drop was supposed to be 3 Bain-maries, which were on the arse end of the vehicle, to Bristol,  but it was turned away as there was nobody to take them into the cafe.

He had to keep moving them off the back to get to other stuff, and he was also doing collections.

By the time he got here to west Norfolk, our rabbit hutches had been on a facking holiday to Bristol, Swindon, Aldershot and London.

If I was the driver I'd have taken the facking things back to Liverpool.

Report buccini August 19, 2014 7:35 PM BST
I emailed them earlier and they said their drivers wouldn't do this as they get paid per delivery, so she basically called me a liar even though I witnessed it with my own eyes. Then she said if I want it today, I can pick it up from their depot in Bridgwater, which is at least an hour and a half round trip. What a joke. I never really get angry about anything but this has really wound me up for some reason. I really hope it's the same driver when it does eventually arrive as he's going to get a right ear bashing.

The best I have encountered are DPD. Their tracking system is brilliant as you can see his previous drops
and where his at any moment.

Useful for the company too but must be hell for the drivers. No small wonder that you see them so often being way over posted speed limits.

It was looking as if he was twenty minutes behind, but arrived just seconds before the scheduled time.
He did, however, skip the drop before mine, just around the corner.

I heard a van pull up, so I went over to my window to see if it was my delivery and saw a different driver walking to the gate, and he actually had a parcel in his hands this time. However to my amazement he then took a quick photo of my house, turned around and started jogging back to his van. So I ran downstairs and legged it out the front door as fast as I could, and shouted out to him a few times just before he got in his van, and he definitely heard me, but he completely blanked me and drove off. I can only assume that it was on record that I'd made a complaint and he decided to do it again just out of spite.

They take a photo themselves to prove that they tried to deliver it. So it's their word against mine. No we have net curtains (not my choice). The good news is that I complained about them to Amazon and they're going to send some replacement items tomorrow. The bad news is that they can't assign delivery companies to individual customers, which means that it could well be the same company delivering them again. I've just been reading some reviews of this delivery company and I found this negative review that was posted earlier today. It seems I'm not alone:

"i have spent most of the afternoon on the phone to the helpline as the delivery man did not knock at all and it has been confirmed by the tracker that he was only outside for 30 seconds and claimed he tried 'ringing the bell' however we don't nor have we ever had a door bell so this was clearly a lie only proving more that he did not even attempt to get any of our attention, there were three of us in the house at the time and none of us heard a knock. Not to mention the fact that I specifically put an extra instruction when filling out the delivery form that if no one was in to leave it in the shed which he clearly chose to ignore, also the parcel was only a lightweight jacket so could quite clearly fit through the letterbox. I was tracking the order most of the morning and it said it was 15 minutes away then suddenly it said 'sorry no one was present to sign the delivery' even though i read this whilst in my front room! I then rang the delivery service only to be greeted by an extremely rude man on the other end of the phone who acted extremely unprofessionally and laughed about it when I don't actually find it funny as i paid £6 for my delivery to arrive today and that is when I expect it to arrive. I am disgusted by the service and have never experienced anything like this with royal mail deliveries it seems your employees cannot follow simple instructions or even knock on a customers door. I find this insulting and rude. The reason why I ordered it with next day delivery was because I NEEDED it today as I am going to london tonight for a week, on top of the stress caused I know have to drive miles out of my way and waste my petrol to pick up a parcel that should be in my house now! All this trouble could have been saved if your employee could manage to knock on a door. I expect at least a full refund on the delivery cost."
Report dewey August 20, 2014 8:08 PM BST

Trust me this is not a wind up. I've posted a review on Trust Pilot using my real name, and the more I read about this delivery company the more I find that this practice goes on all the time.

Someone from the company contacted me this morning after reading this review and said that they will personally make sure that I receive the next parcel if they are the ones that will be delivering it.

However I've just received an email saying that the original parcel, ie the one I've asked to be sent back to Amazon, will be delivered today between 16.48 and 17.48. So the incompetence continues and they've managed to annoy me yet again.

When he appears next time, grab him and claim your prize.

From Wikipedia ...

Lobby Lud is a fictional character invented in August 1927 by the Westminster Gazette, a British newspaper, now defunct. The name derives from the paper's telegraphic address, "Lobby, Ludgate". Anonymous employees of the newspaper visited seaside resorts. The paper printed details of the town, a description of that day's Lobby Lud and a pass phrase. Anyone carrying the newspaper could challenge Lobby Lud with the phrase and receive five pounds (about £260.00 in 2014).[1][2] People on holiday were known to be less likely to buy a newspaper. Some towns and large factories had holiday fortnights (called "wakes weeks" in the north of England); the town or works would all decamp at the same time. Circulation could drop considerably in the summer and proprietors hoped prizes would increase it.
