A-Level results: pass rate down

Falling standards under the Tories once again. Kids we so much brighter under Labour.

A Level kids : "Wooooohoooooo ! I've won a place to avoid work for 3 more years, Wooooohoooooo ! "

good job i,m not applying for uni because i,m lost on this one,months of arguing and gove got his way to make exams harder yet theres 1000,s more uni places so what was the point,
i though the whole idea was to stop giving kids expectations of uni,degrees etc, seems to me theyve turned students into the new motorist charge,em 9 grand a piece and pack,em in regardless of ability grades etc

Imagine how gutted you would feel if you were so dumb you couldn't even pass an A level these days.

well the cream of the usa,s and uks special forces cant decide whether theres ,2,000 or 40.000 people on a mountain,

must have had to write your surname in this years exams

Thankfully, the pass rate has stopped going up and up.

Instead of pretending that the kids are getting brighter why on earth don't we just have 10% A*, 10% A, 20% B, 20%, etc and 20% fail.

Statistically, that is a much more sound and meaningful system - rather than setting some fairly defined pass levels.

From 1982 to 2014 the proportion of A level students getting A to E grades i.e. increased from 68% to 98%.  Ludicrous. 

Sadly, more young people are off to University than ever - up 30,000 to over half a million.  Think of all those new buildings, new lecturers, new support staff.  Where is all the money coming from?  Only the loans to the students, many of which will never be paid back.
