The Big Sleep, to which she has now gone, is surely one of the most confusing films ever.

Bogie and Bacall.....the Statham and Huntington-Whitely of their day?

She played the grand old feisty dame in The Duke's last film The Shootist and quite wonderful she was too. Whilst she didn't have the scope of a Streep she had a certain quality which defined her as an actress and which could be dynamite in the right circumstances.

I wonder when she really died?

There is only the normal 2 pages of BBC television news for Robin Williams.

Bacall apparently died yesterday, but by 8-30 a.m. today the BBC television news had a 20 page obituary on her.

Nonetheless, R.I.P.

For anyone over 80 they have an obituary ready to go....I should think.
