indian prithvi on bath rd, excellent, one of the best indians i've had in this country le champignon sauvage, can't rem the name of the rd, was one we used to go to a fair bit but now prefer lumiere lumiere is expensive but worth it if you want top end on clarence parade, food is very good
if you like ale / old pub style try the kemble brewery, looks a dump but the beer is good if not the battledown brewery is worth a short visit, looks like a shed and has questionable hygiene but they do a tour and beer for about 10 quid (was a few years ago), the glos old spot pub is nice with grub to match if you want a more tradition drinking venue
clubbing is shoite, never been much of a clubbing theme there, most of them are rubbish not worth the effort, head away from chelt if that's your thing, if you do need to find a late night venue in the town stick to the promenade area which at least is safe enough, lots of bars along there and back up as far as montpelier area where the younger crowd meet

that's (was) one of the better bars / music venues on the parade, not been in for a couple of years but it was one of the smarter places, would check before going in in case it's now full of 14 year olds or grannies

I live in Cheltenham. OP. The Sandford Ale House is an excellent "proper" pub serving real ale and Belgian lager. On the High Street leaving town in the Oxford direction. Has a web site if you google
