This is some programme when you think about it - all over the weekend schedules like a rash. McMillan and Wife and Banacek, etc. nowhere to be seen, but Columbo is still a permanent fixture on telly. Never seems to grow old or stale. Must have seen them all twice over but still watch it.

Haven't watched it this weekend but it seems that there have been about eight episodes screened on two or three channels

I saw Falk as a killer in an early 60s Hitchcock tv show, he was a seriously good actor and that comes out in Columbo if you watch enough of them. Combine that with imaginative story lines and they really stand the test of time, for me. By contrast, I saw a couple of Starsky and Hutches over the weekend and it's like they were written by a 4 year old. The essence of Columbo is that people act in certain ways and when they deviate from that, it must be for a reason.

Johnny Cash episode was good.Leonard Nimrod as a nasty surgeon and that weird kid with the robot. Liked the bloodhound. Tyne Daly appeared in two episodes, one as the accused and one as a ****. |

I forget what his wages were but he often discussed it. Robert Culp even offered him three times as much if he'd come and work for him. But Columbo refused because he'd have to be taken off the case Culp was working, in which Culp was the killer. |

Why does he nearly always ask his "suspect" the following?
"I was wondering if you could help me with an aspect of the case that's been bothering me, sir." All the "suspect" needs to say is "No" or "Sorry I've got no idea about that." But they ALL say far too much and drop themselves right in the shoite.  I think it's great, by the way. |
