i dont normally take to that jonah hill guy in films but in this he plays a good part and apparently only got 36 grand , he said he just wanted to work with scorsese

that is a brilliant scene, but overall I reckon the film is at least 30 minutes too long - as is the case with almost every scorcese film I've ever seen, including goodfellas, the color of money, the departed, casino and cape fear to name but a few

fair enough i get how all you old guys think 3 hours is too long , maybe you should have put it on before 10pmGrin

I'd say it was nearer an hour too long. Great performances, a decent enough plot but stretched out so much that ultimately I was pretty disappointed with the film. DiCaprio's brilliant in it though. On the other side of the spectrum, I started watching Captain Phillips (Tom Hanks) with very low expectations and thought it was very good indeed.

Read the book on holiday.wont bother with the film as invariably worse than the film

I think Boiler room is better. Both films were based upon the same story an boiler room was done first.

I went to watch this last week actually , but was busy watching Breaking bad so continued with that instead

Looks a good watch though, might watch it now, 3 hours did put me off before

Defo worth a watch you may like it or may not but only one way to find out

never seen boiler room

the boiler room is also very good; wolf of wall street is a great watch, but di caprio carries it with his brilliant performance - any other actor and it would be a struggle to sit through imo

Decent phylum

If I were to indulge in a bit film-industry left-hand w@nker talker, it does indulge in itself at times.

Enjoyed the film, but I can't believe they didn't take liberties with the truth.
A bunch of dumb-@rses making millions by cold calling with a spiel.I don't think so.
Then they come up with some shoe scam and Di Capprio is urging all the dumb-@rses to ring their clients.
What clients? Who gets ripped off and comes back for more?

talking of films, I watched The Double last night, wasn't sure I'd enjoy it beforehand but it turned out to be excellent - darkly humourous observation of a man's descent into madness in a dystopian near-future, not normally the sort of thing I'd even consider but I was utterly captivated by it throughout. Definitely worth seeing imo, and not overlong either  Grin

I enjoyed The Double aswell Mister Badger, good little film.

Watched 'Under the Skin' again last night, surprised this didn't get much attention, a genuinely very good/borderline great British film with lots of naked Scarlett Johannson...what's not to like.

Just watched 'Starred Up'...the kind of film I should have loved and was really looking forward to watching...turned out to be pretty ridiculous garbage. A very bad 2010's update of Alaln Clarkes 'Made in Britain'

Sorry Chaser , i didn't mean to be miserable Blush but the film kept crashing on me after an hour or so which was annoying , i was happily watching it but just hadn't seemed to make me laugh for the first hour & all seemed a bit samey .
I will still finish watching some other time as 1 hr out of 3 is just the start .

I like gangster films , Goodfella's & Casino amongst my favs , but this just isn't in the same category as those , imo
