I've never watched his comedy but I've seen a couple of things he's been in from dramas to documentaries and he seems to have a decent way about him as a fella.

Bernard Manning was of his time but even then he wasn't a patch on some of the pioneers of what became observational comedy. Given the material he could deliver the joke but he was no Dave Allen and he was certainly no George Carlin.

Manning was far better than Dave Allen, I used to fall asleep waiting for Dave Allen to get to the punchline
