Total ban on food imports from U.S,EU countries, Norway, Australia. And Canada.
No meat,fruit,vegetables, dairy and poultry .

It is estimated that in big cities, like Moscow, more than 60% of food in the shops is imported. Researchers at Capital Economics say "far and away the most vulnerable to the Russian sanctions is Lithuania, where exports of the banned products to Russia are equivalent to 2.5% of GDP". Encouraging them to be more self sufficient is no bad thing in this modern world.
capitalists only see profit and their views only contain percentages of profit. Im sure Russia have other avenues of imports. |

Putin probably bought shares in home grown farms or importers from Brazil or somewhere. He is worth 100bn and is as capitalist as anyone. He uses Russia and russian people/resources for personal gain

exactly what this country does not need It will achieve nothing except make life a bit harder for us all it seems such a pity our politicians have had their brains surgically removed  |

We cannot afford an economic war We can clearly see the situation in the Ukraine, there are Russians there who want to join Russia, near civil war going on If anybody thinks he threatens the West I think they must be simple although Price Charles think so  ....but I think that proves my point! |

  We are trying to weaken Russia. This gives the US more power. What happens if they get absolute power, how could anyone defend themselves against the US. You may say the US has a reasonably benevolent government at the moment, but can you guarantee that will also be so? I would also add the US does things for itself, nobody else. I believe in a balance of power, it protects us all. So Russia and China need to be strong, for peace and a better world just my opinion |

eBul.... on behalf of the forum let me rephrase the thread title for the purposes of clarification...
RUSSIA imposes food sanctions. Russia being the subject of the sentence, imposes the verb and food sanctions the object, the implication being that the subject has performed the verb and the object is the thing that has been imposed. i.e. RUSSIA imposes food sanctions. hope that clarifies the matter.  |

Remembering 1989/1990 when the old Soviet Union collapsed
and we were promised peace It seems sad to see the cold war returning It suggests to me how impossible it is for us to ever live in peace, and the Middle East rather confirms this. We need war as a species, in fact if you push too far in the direction of peace, the more we create the need for war. But I am with Russia all the way here. We need to someone to stand up to the US. I am not sure what we will get out it, because although it will harm Russia, it will also harm us  It seems we are cutting off our nose to spite our face here |

I can see the theory here...
We believe by making conditions tougher in Russia, Putin will lose the support of his people.. and they will vote in someone more amenable to us, who we can push about a bit easier. Maybe it will work?...even if I do not want to see this personally But you see Russia has never been a rich country. They had it tough under the Tsars and Communism never made anyone rich. I think conditions have improved in Russia since Communism fell, but by how much, and is it universal. So this may push the Russians even closer to Putin. Which will mean everybody is suffering a load of grief for nothing. I think Europe rather depends on Russian for oil and gas myself. If we use alternative sources, I have an idea they will cost more, by the law of supply and demand. Plus I still believe in the balance of power, so a strong Russia and China benefit this world, not harm it. That last line is my own opinion of course |

They have better values than us We are hypocritical, greedy and obsessed with kinky sex We claim to prosperous yet have millions unemployed....it is complete hypocrisy We think people should marry people of their own sex...how degenerate can you get? We invade Muslim countries, kill large numbers of them, then complain if they hate us We may have had decent values once, but they are long gone, we are a morally sick society. |
