One dog and its owner was filmed ripping down the trees on the side of the road.

Why don't the police prosecute the owner with that kind of evidence at hand?

only have to walk in any town centre and you see these muppets. i think its the law that if you have a bulldog, you have to wear tracksuit bottoms and a baseball cap. and bob up and down when you walk. it must be.

You can't blame the toe-rags that keep them, they're only simpletons.

It's the police and the judges who are to blame for not prosecuting them.
Those two bull terriers owned by the tart that were fighting looked pretty dangerous to me, yet the magistrate said they were okay.

The law states that you can't keep a dangerous dog, yet they're all around us.

one chavvy type bloke in his 20s actually said he regualary beats and punches  the dog if it stops attackinand he has done this since the dog was young ,he demonstrated the dogs power by letting it loose on a dummy in clothes he had made up ,the dog ripped it to shreds much to the delight of this clown , he then went on to say that he had a young son at home who the dog plays with ..........unbelievable !

People keep dogs for all the wrong reasons now, to be macho, for fighting, to protect their property(some justification there)

But it makes these dogs dangerous to the rest of us
They are frequently ill treated(not by everybody) and kept in the unsuitable environments.

I like dogs myself, and it is not these dogs fault, I am wondering whether we do need to restrict these pit bull
type dogs

Should just ban anyone from breeding any more of the dangerous breeds like Pit Bulls and Akitas (it is nearly always the same few breeds that attack people) and carry out checks on the owners who already have them. Any of them deemed a danger to the public should be put down. And this is from someone who likes dogs.

Barton, I like your plan. Once you have put the owners down though, what are you going to do with the dangerous dogs left behind?

The problem with these dogs are their jaws they lock on, which is their default position
So trying to get them to open their mouths is nearly impossible...people have had their whole face ripped off

There needs to be some discouragement for the owning and breeding of these dogs

Loads of chavs, Jeremy Kyle People, Scuzzbags with dogs, smack and crack-heads, and I agree, some very bad cases.
My problem is with the portrayal by the media of a much higher number of them than there actually are. Also the semi glamorisation and near celebrity status being given to these people. The media coverage is designed to shock or irritate and it causes hurt and damage to genuinely poor, needy people who get grouped with the 'stars' of this show.

Dog fighting is illegal.
Therefore it should be illegal to breed pit bulls/akitas etc
