40 years ago this is what was meant by child abuse, or "battered babies". Anyone around in the 1970s would recognise Maria Colwell, for instance.
We ought to be able to condemn both physical and sexual abuse. We need to be protecting current victims of fatal beatings like Mikaeel Kular and Baby P, and the young victims of grooming and rape in northern cities and South London gangs, not becoming hysterical about whether Ebay should be selling Rolf's paintings. |

Who are the "We" that you refer to? Are you becoming hysterical about eBay. I'm not.
The killers of 'Baby P' have been (as far as I know) through the judicial system and any sentence due will, no doubt, have been issued. The police and public authorities are also addressing the other matter of grooming gangs, although I don't know if the same is true for South London gangs. |

Children at risk : a study by the East Sussex County Council into the problems revealed by the Report of the Inquiry into the case of Maria Colwell and repeated "it must never happen again” 1984 Jasmine Beckford, 4, starved and battered to death by her scumbag stepfather. He got 10 years for manslaughter. I’d have strung him up by his bollocks and stuck a red hot poker up his arse. The girls mother got 18 months for neglect. “It must never happen again” 1984 Tyra Henry, 21 months old, died after being battered and bitten by her father. ‘Father’ is a term that should only be used for real men, not these coonts in these cases. He got a life sentence. Imo, like the others, he didn’t deserve to live. A report on the case found that the white social workers from Lambeth council tended to be too trusting of the family because they were black. “It must never happen again” 1984 Heidi Koseda starved to death in a locked room in Hillingdon, west London. Her stepfather, Nicholas Price, was jailed for life for her murder while her mother, Rosemary Koseda, was found guilty of manslaughter and detained in a high security psychiatric hospital. A private inquiry into her death found that the senior National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children inspector allocated to her case failed to investigate a complaint of child abuse made by a neighbour. He also tried to cover this up with a fictitious account of a visit to see the child. That coont should have been jailed as well. “It must never happen again” 1986 Kimberley Carlile, 4, was starved and beaten to death in Greenwich, south London. Her stepfather, Nigel Hall, received a life sentence for her murder while her mother was given 12 years' imprisonment for assault and cruelty. Hall frustrated attempts by social workers and health visitors to investigate. But an inquiry found that her death was avoidable and concluded that four key social work and health staff in Greenwich failed to apply the necessary skill, judgement and care in her case. “It must never happen again” 1987 Doreen Mason died of neglect after her mother and her boyfriend bruised, burnt and broke the 16-month-old's leg then failed to have her injuries treated. Christine Mason and Roy Aston were convicted of manslaughter and cruelty and each jailed for 12 years. Doreen was on the "at risk" register of Southwark council from birth. She slept on the floor where the couple put junk food for her to eat. A report said her social worker was inexperienced and given no proper training or supervision, and that Southwark social services department suffered from a "siege mentality" and "destructive mistrust" between senior managers. “It must never happen again” 1992 Leanne White, three, was beaten to death by her stepfather, Colin Sleate, who made her sleep on the floor. The girl suffered 107 external injuries and died of internal bleeding and repeated blows to the stomach. Sleate was jailed for life for the girl's murder while her mother, Tina, received 10 years for manslaughter. An inquiry concluded that her death could have been prevented if Nottinghamshire social services had responded properly to reports from her grandmother and neighbours that she was at risk. “It must never happen again” 1994 Rikki Neave, 6, was found strangled by his coat zipper in a wood near Peterborough. His drug addict mother, Ruth, was jailed after admitting cruelty towards Rikki and two of his three sisters. She hit them, burned them, threw them across the room and locked them outside. Neave had asked a succession of social workers to take the boy off her hands and told one she would kill Rikki if they did not do something. A report by the social services inspectorate three years later said fault primarily lay with senior management in Cambridgeshire social services department. “It must never happen again” 1999 Chelsea Brown, 2, was battered to death by her father. Robert Brown, who was jailed for life for her murder, had a criminal record for violence against children. Her mother, Maria Brown, was jailed for 18 months for child cruelty. The girl's social worker, Norma McDevitt, visited the family 27 times in the 10 weeks before her death. She took Chelsea to a paediatrician who said that six out of nine areas of bruising "had no plausible explanation" and at least one was deliberately inflicted. These findings should have triggered police involvement and a multi-agency case conference under Derbyshire county council's procedures, but neither happened. “It must never happen again” 2000 Victoria Climbié, 8, died from hypothermia in a tiny flat in Tottenham, north London, after suffering months of horrific abuse and neglect. Her aunt, Marie Thérèse Kouao, and her boyfriend, Carl Manning, were both jailed for life for the girl's murder in January 2001. A public inquiry into her death began in September 2001, which is expected to lead to sweeping reform of Britain's child protection services. It has heard that there were at least 12 chances for the agencies involved in her protection to have saved her. “It must never happen again” 2000 Lauren Wright, 6, was found dead after suffering a fatal punch or kick from her stepmother, Tracey Wright, which caused her digestive system to collapse. The woman was found guilty of manslaughter, as was the girl's father, Craig Wright, who had turned a blind eye to her abuse. Norfolk social services department has admitted it made serious mistakes and missed chances to save Lauren. An inquiry found that inter-agency coordination was "ineffective" and social workers had not acted with "due urgency". “It must never happen again” 2002 Ainlee Labonte, 2, was starved and tortured to death by her vicious parents, Leanne Labonte and Dennis Henry. The couple, from Plaistow, east London, were jailed for manslaughter for deliberately punching, scalding and burning the toddler, who had 64 scars and bruises on her body when she died. She weighed just 9.5kg (21lbs), about half the normal weight of a child that age. An inquiry into her death found that the health and social workers who should have protected her failed to do so because they were paralysed with fear of Leanne and Dennis. It criticised the staff and agencies involved for poor communication and for failing to carry out a proper assessment of the risks facing Ainlee. “It must never happen again” Peter Connelly Baby P, was a 17-month-old English boy who died in London after suffering more than fifty injuries over an eight-month period, during which he was repeatedly seen by Haringey Children's services and NHS health professionals. Baby P's real first name was revealed as "Peter" on the conclusion of a subsequent trial of Peter's mother's boyfriend on a charge of raping a two-year-old. His full identity was revealed when his killers were named after the expiry of a court anonymity order on 10 August 2009. The DES, now the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), was sent a letter in February 2007 (six months before the death of Baby P), containing an allegation that child protection procedures were not being followed in Haringey, from a lawyer acting for a former social worker, who sent the letter to the then health secretary, Patricia Hewitt, who merely forwarded the letter on to the DCSF. Haringey Council then took out an injunction against the social worker, Nevres Kemal, banning her from speaking about child care in Haringey. Kemal's lawyer stated: "Hewitt bounced us onto the DES... the DES then advised us to write to the Commission for Social Care Inspection whom we had written to on the same day as we had written to Hewitt, copying in the letter to Hewitt and the relevant material. By that time of course they had an injunction against us so we couldn't go back to the inspectorate. I agree...but it is worst than that, there are a lot that never even make news
I suppose my point was, there are lots of different kinds of abuse But we have become totally fixated on sex abuse In fact society seems to have become a vast conspiracy of paedophilia and sex abuse You will always get these people in society, and we need to be vigilante, but this has been exaggerated out of all proportion Our society has an unhealthy obsession with sex..the more perverted the better, I am afraid to say Also I feel women are trying to prove how bad all men are, are they not, do not fall for that one, most of us men are decent As I have said elsewhere I am of the view of Barbara Jefferson ..over Yewtree I can see no good whatsoever in all of this just my own opinion |

xmoneyx, my older brother has been a policeman for 25 years, some of the stories he tells makes me want to weep. He's immune to all of it now after seeing so much horror but I just couldn't do that gig.

He's on about £35K and refuses to do overtime so he can spend as much time as he can with his kids. He hates the job but needs the pension. He has seen so many corpses it just doesn't mean anything to him anymore, I just couldn't deal with that stuff.

Further news involving those that have killed children. The man, and I use the term in its loosest possible sense, responsible for killing Baby P in 2007 is being released. He had previously been released in 2011 after serving barely 4 years but was recalled for breaching the terms of his release.
I despair that a childs life has such little value that 4 years is considered a suitable punishment for taking that life. |

Some of the convicted in Yewtrew will get more than this. For sexual abuse, a lot of which does not even involve children I think it would be good thing if we could create a society where all children are protected from all abuse. Instead it appears if it is not anything to do with sex, who cares we have a woeful set of values, in my opinion ps There are far more of these deaths than baby P believe me |

All these parents and step-parents are thoroughly evil, or in some cases in the black community, mentally ill, killing kids because they have 'witchcraft' in them.
