I have recently completed a 9 month drink driving ban (1 year less 25% for attending the course)
My step-daughter and family have recently emigrated to New York.
My question is will I be able to visit and if so, what hoops will I have to jump through.

I've probably got more chance of picking a winning yankie.
Not an expert but I believe you're OK. Violent crimes result in a lifetime ban iirc.
Driving through hoops is actively encouraged if you do it in a monster truck, flatten a dozen Pintos and shout "Yee Haw!".
