Telling someone you don't like their tie is the minimum qualification.

tell a corporation that they dont enough diversity when they clearly do, you become leader of a group that puts colour before ability (14% pop/ 15% employed)

Tell the uk athletics association that they dont have enough white sprinters.............

It's a toughie and whilst I trust the thread title wasn't an opening gambit to justify race hatred, I do find it difficult to get a grip on.

We end up turning the English language into a pretzel, using phrases like 'the N word' in everyday conversation, because we believe people are actually that dumb they can no longer recognize context.

My grandparents fought the Nazis and yet are of the generation where 'darkie' springs easily from their lips, because that is what they are used to. Yet they are the first to raise money for Oxfam or any disaster relief appeal that comes on, seeing this as part of their contribution to the World.

Then again, I know people who espouse right on values when it comes to the theory but, when hiring staff, put the obviously Asian or Afro-Caribbean sounding CV's to the bottom of the pile.

I hope we all know that calling someone a '****g coon' (Betfair will delete both those words because it's an organisation that puts process before context when it comes to freedom of speech, but those inverted commas denote a quote, so it is not my thought or opinion I'm expressing - why do I have to explain this stuff?) is hurtful and definitely racist.

But after that......?

Wow!

They didn't!

Apologies to Betfair.

Simply recognising that different races have different characteristics and abilities classifies you as a racist.
You don't have to be malicious to be a racist.

A good example of serious racism is the attitude of Muslims towards the Jews which goes back centuries.

Then consider how we treat soft racism in this country.
It's looked on as being very wrong to be a racist to any degree in the UK, but okay to import people full of genuine racial hatred in unlimited numbers.
Report call me a taxi June 22, 2014 5:13 PM BST

People used to refer to their local shop as the P******s if owned by people from Pakistan.
No offence was intended but this was deemed to be racist.
Report Mexico June 22, 2014 6:29 PM BST
Dr , a bit unfair of you to identify "the attitude of Muslims towards the Jews" without putting it in context.

Really to be fair to the millions of Muslims you should also mention their attitude towards Hindus and Christians.

As we are often told "Islam is a peaceful religion" .

So Dr I suggest you apologise quickly for your remarks, before a fatwa is issued.

Report Dr Crippen June 22, 2014 7:29 PM BST
What amazes me is that so many people get away with calling others racist when they're so clearly racists themselves.
Take George Galloway who walked of a panel stating  “I don’t debate with Israelis.”

Now consider how many times he's played the racist card in debates.
A hypocrite if ever there was one.

On the NHS thread on the politics forum.
Comparing hospitals.

My nearest hospital is 10 miles from my house, the next nearest is just under 10 miles in the other direction from my house.
Car parks busy in both, but I always find a space.
No real idea about A&E wait, only went once (2010)was in and out, including an x-ray, in 45 minutes. But if I have an appointment in a dept, when I go in I pass through the A&E dept waiting area, and when I come out the same way, it's rare to see the same people waiting there in the front few rows of the queue.
Never had to wait beyond an appointment time, and that's any one of 3 different depts.
Quite a few immigrants, all eastern europeans, but not flooded.

Where I used to live, the ONLY hospital in the borough was half a mile away.
Car park far too small, murder trying to find a space.
All local roads are 'resident only' parking. With a £30 ticket if you decide to park with no pass, even if you live there.
From plenty of experience over the years, it's up to a 5 hour wait in A&E, even in the middle of the night.
Appointments, morning or afternoon, in any dept, always run late.
Area flooded with immigrants (which it is, the census agrees)

------------------------------------------------------------------------
As far as I'm aware, nobody on the politics forum lives in my old London borough, works in that borough, or visits that borough.

What they do know by checking the census is that just 16.7% of the 308,000 population are 'British whites', a further 16% are 'other white', gypsies, travellers, europeans. The other 67% are black or asian. These are facts, not racism, and are easily checked online.

This comparison post was removed from the politics forum two days ago.

Was it racist? Was it fack. It was all plain, checkable, undeniable, fact.

I added to that thread this morning:
despite the large growth in the population, I named 7 hospitals in the borough that had closed down since the 1970s, when the population had started to boom.
5 of the 7 had A&E depts the other 2 were maternity hospitals.
The only building still standing is East Ham Memorial Hospital, which is now a 220 bed home for the mentally ill. (Perhaps one or two from the politics forum have been there after all) Silly

Everything else, over a period of time, was squeezed into one new hospital, that isn't large enough to cope.

See how long this lasts before northernlad sees it. Laugh
