Only £414 for me. You can, of course, order a group of 50 named ones online to cut the cost by about 75%!

eyeball

if you are serious I have some great news for you, a friend of mine who deals in football memorabilia bought the 1970 mexico full set two years ago for £2500 and sold it last year for £5500
Report sideshowbob June 17, 2014 7:51 PM BST
the trouble with these things is they were nearly exclusively collected by kids.

i had full books of the 82, 86 and 90 ones. but i also wrote on the pages, the books got tatty and eventually thrown out. getting hold of ones in mint condition is pretty impossible. the stickers are also worth a lot more not stuck in the books, for obvious reasons.
Report Huggy June 17, 2014 8:01 PM BST
you are correct sideshow single stickers can go for a pony Shocked
Report Burton-Brewers June 17, 2014 8:12 PM BST
and I have the full Esso world cup coin collection from 1970, mint condition, framed and glazed and worth bugger all
Report Tommy Toes June 17, 2014 8:15 PM BST
I've still got several Jeff Astles, BB. They were in every packet!
Report Burton-Brewers June 17, 2014 8:18 PM BST
I always thought it would be a nice bit of memorabilia as I cannot imagine they were produced like the quantities of these stickers
Report Burton-Brewers June 17, 2014 8:20 PM BST
I've got the Esso collection from 1972 for the centenary of the FA Cup and that is also worth bugger all

THE LEEDS V ARSENAL GOLD COLORED COIN IS WORTH MORE THAN THE OTHERS PUT TOGETHER
Report Tommy Toes June 17, 2014 8:25 PM BST
I remember being really excited at first every time my dad gave me one of the small blue and white packets (as I remember them as being) from the local Esso garage to open and see what was in it.

I think I had one of the charts too - but never bothered to fill it in as almost every single time it was a Jeff Astle!

It became quite a joke by the end of the campaign: "Will it be someone other than Jeff today?" "No, it's him again".

I think I had an Alan Ball once - and that was about the only different one.
Report Tommy Toes June 17, 2014 8:26 PM BST
Very funny about your mum, Huggy! Were they all Jeff Astles?!
Report Burton-Brewers June 17, 2014 8:47 PM BST
my old man went to the final that year Huggy and he purchased the final gold coin outside Wembley stadium after the match
Report Huggy June 17, 2014 8:55 PM BST

Report Dav_vin03 June 18, 2014 10:08 PM BST
do they still sell paninis?

do they still sell POGs?
Report Clouseau June 18, 2014 10:33 PM BST
Just opened my first and only packet of 2014 Paninis that the missus bought me a couple of weeks ago for some reason. There are 6 cards/stickers:

Switzerland,
Godfrey Oboabona,
Stipe Pletikosa,
Vasilis Torosidis,
Jonathan Mensah and
Jeff Astle...

Are any of these worth anything? Plain
Report Tommy Toes June 18, 2014 10:37 PM BST
hahaha! Cracking stuff Clouseau!
Report Huggy June 18, 2014 10:37 PM BST
I need Stipe Pletikosa do you want to swap it?

I think we can do business, Huggy.... He's an ugly fu(ker!
Report Tommy Toes June 18, 2014 10:49 PM BST
I've just remembered - I had an ugly bugger too to go along with my Alan Ball and 4 dozen Jeff Astles but I can't remember his name. I'm going to look up who the squad was in 1970 to find him (I'll know his name when I see it). I have a feeling he didn't get a game.
Report Burton-Brewers June 18, 2014 10:51 PM BST

Report Tommy Toes June 18, 2014 10:57 PM BST
BB - you're right. Keith Newton it was!

I've just looked him up and he did play 3 times in the 70 WC - "where he gained the distinction of becoming the first England player to be substituted at a World Cup".
Report Tommy Toes June 18, 2014 10:59 PM BST
- however he did redeem himself as "Newton also assisted in both England goals in the Quarter-Final defeat to West Germany"
Report Tommy Toes June 18, 2014 11:01 PM BST
Wow! That's brilliant, Clouseau!
Just look at that coin of Newton!

Can't believe they don't have numerous Jeff Astles in close up though!

Glad also to see that my old memory banks didn't fail me then - as they were blue and white packets the coins came in.
