Why you picking on Stockport County?

Only a matter of time before man city get there fair share of glory supporters.  At least man united had history and built a team with lots of youth players and a shrewd manager.  They may have spent money in the end but they all do now.  Man city have just bought it all with arab money.  Theyve little history, just a small club that got lucky.  I wish them nothing but bad luck.  Only one team more disagreeable than them and that is chelsea. 

If they have a long run of success then they will be hated just like man utd.  Thing is with man u the hatred came from jealousy, in the case of city and chelsea they deserve to be hated, they epitomise everything that is sh1t about football.

I agree with most of your diatribe rob, but I was talking only about their fans... yes, they already have their share of footy tourists but they have also always had a hard core of support who have stood by them through thick and thin and, like I said, they know how to enjoy their good times

Tbf every team has a hardcore of fans who stick by them through thick and thin. From man city to luton town to woking to arsenal to darlington to anywhere.  I hope they are enjoying it, I would be all for them if they had done it with more homegrown players, but they havent.  In fact i dont see how a team can compete without a fk load of money now which is why i think footy is sh1t.

31pc of minutes played in the prem is by english players now.  And the only english player in the wc squad who plays abroad plays for toronto ffs.  The european leagues dont want our players, so ething seriously wrong with the state of english football.

it does get highlighted a lot about Utd's support being from down south and the 4 corners of the globe, and I am sure a fair bit of this support has happened since the good run they had under Ferguson. However they did have a vast array of supporters from all over the world and the country prior to this success, simply because of the Munich air disaster. The crash was world wide news and the tragedy did garner them support from further fields than just Manchester.

Growing up in the eighties, in the south, i was surrounded by glory supporting liverpool fans.

I maintain the the hatred of man u was largely jealousy, people can dress it up how they like but the underlying reason was jealousy.  Particularly from liverpool fans.

Many of my mates are true old school fans. I'm a Leeds fan myself so nowt to cheer for many years and so I'm somewhat ambivalent but their away support was stupendous. I've been to City plenty of times and the atmosphere was always special but I remember they took me to a game when I was down in London when they were in the championship or lower and they made an absolute racket from start to finish. What an atmosphere. Different class. I like City. They wen through the hard times and now deserve these good times.

I was in south Essex on Saturday and saw a kid in a Man City shirt.

But then you would probably see a Chelsea shirt in Cumbria.
Cant blame the city fans for the owners. They still had 30k fans during the dark days.

Could not agree more, the money from SKY sadly killed all that was good about English football, wont harp on about it as its all too depressing to be honest, Man City are going to be fined £50 million apparently for financial regularities, 10 point penalty will hurt more but god forbid they have the balls to do that.

more entertaining,crowds are up are two good point but at what price to home grown players and the state of the national team?

Home grown players are only restricted by their lack of ability and over-inflated view of their financial worth to a club.
Just my opinion, of course.

City spent a season in league one back in 1999 and were getting crowds of 30k. They're far from a small club.

In fact looking at the figures, when they were relegated from the championship in 1998 they averaged 28k, they averaged slightly more than that the next year in league one and then the following season back up in the championship they averaged 32k.

So yes they got lucky with the arab money, but they were never a small club.

Many Hammers fans stayed till the presentation. After, the City fans made a point of shaking their hands and thanking them for doing so.

Man City fans have always come across as a gracious, good natured and good humoured set of people. Good luck to them, wonderful to see a decent bunch without chips on their shoulders be so happy. I couldn't ever imagine them turning into the swaggering, cOcky types their neighbours appear to be, almost to a man.
