Report PugMunter1 April 28, 2014 4:33 PM BST
A teenage boy has been arrested
after a female teacher was
stabbed to death at a secondary
school in Leeds.
Police say the 15-year-old is
being held in connection with
the attack at Corpus Christi
Catholic College.
Officers were called to the
secondary school at 11.48am
after they were contacted by the
ambulance service following a
report a member of staff had
been stabbed.
The woman was taken to
hospital for treatment but was
subsequently pronounced dead.
The school is in West Yorkshire
Pupil Georgina Kilroy, 16, said
the woman had been a teacher
for 40 years.
Speaking outside the school, she
said: "I don't know anyone who
didn't like her. She was spot on.
You couldn't ask for a better
teacher."
Georgina said her teacher broke
down when she told the children
the news. She said they were
previously told a teacher had
gone to hospital but that lessons
had continued.
Detective Superintendent Simon
Beldon, from West Yorkshire
Police, said: "We would like to
reassure people that this has
been an isolated incident and
there is no ongoing risk to pupils
or staff at the school.
"The situation is under control
and officers, including safer
schools officers and members of
the local neighbourhood policing
team, are currently at the school
and are liaising closely with staff.
"The rest of the school is
continuing to operate as normal
and we would ask that parents
do not attend the site unless
directly requested to do so by
the school.
"Our enquiries are at a very
early stage but the full
circumstances of this incident will
obviously be the subject of a full
and thorough investigation."
Pupils and former pupils have
also been paying tribute to the
teacher on social media, with
one describing her as an
"inspirational woman" and saying
she "wouldn't have made it
through high school without
her".
Meanwhile, Christine Blower,
general secretary of the National
Union of Teachers, said: "This is
a truly awful thing to have
happened to a teacher in the
course of her work to educate
the next generation.
"Appalling events like this are
thankfully very rare indeed but
the death of any teacher in her
place of work, which should be a
place of safety, is devastating.
Our condolences go to the
family and friends of this
teacher, and to students and
colleagues at the school.
There are nearly 1,000 pupils on
the roll aged between 11 and 16,
according to the school's
website.
It also has "a strong Christian
and community ethos".
The website adds: "The school
has a very good pastoral
structure, which it is committed
to keeping and teachers receive
very good back-up support."

knives are too easy to get hold of. simple as that.

people will always have arguments and lose their temper. the more people that carry knives, the more will end up killing. its crazy just how common knives are in our world. no idea what you do about that now though. its weird how pocket knives are legal to carry. just saw that on the government website. you can carry a knife if its a folding blade of 3 inches or less. bit mad that. 99% of people have no legitimate reason to carry a pocket knife. unless youre bear grylls or summat.

It is neither = means it is not either = means it is both not racist and not offensive.
It is simple = it is uncomplicated, easy to read, standard English
It is straight-forward = he wishes to make a point and does so without going around the houses

Statement of fact  = actually happened, verifiable

You're at it again mo when did labour apologise for encouraging black immigrants into this country for votes? They didn't because this has never happened as you know. The extra immigrants that came in under  new labour were eastern european not caribbean or african or from the indian sub continent. And they came because of the  policy of free movement of labour, a policy which started when the  EU was first formed in the 50s. For a so called socialist you don't half smear the labour party and its members.

A high-achieving middle-class schoolboy was in custody on Monday night after a teacher was stabbed to death in the first murder of its kind in a British classroom.

... said of the accused boy: “He is really clever and always got top grades.”

The boy in custody comes from a middle-class family in the Halton area of Leeds. His mother is a human resources director and his father is a civil servant. He has a 19-year-old brother.
Neighbours said that after his parents split some time ago, the boy would rarely speak to anyone outside his immediate family.

He was predicted to gain good grades in his GCSEs and excelled particularly in art.
One neighbour said: “He was very quiet and a bit of a dweeb, but never caused any trouble. This is the last thing you would ever have expected from him.”

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/10794504/Leeds-teacher-murder-boy-15-in-custody-after-Anne-Maguire-stabbed-to-death.html

So he sounds like a model pupil if we overlook the odd kitchen knife murder.
