Why don't we go the whole hog and do away with using commas, apostrophe's, full stops and question marks as well?

I'll tell you why, it will lead to anarchy. Writing in only lower case will be the thin edge of the wedge, you'll be trying to do away with paragraphs next and that will never do.

no, it was always 1 hour after school finished fortunately. i did my fair share of writing out the above lines. certainly 100 was enough to make your arm ache. a lesser punishment was to make you stand by the ink-well for half an hour some reason.

Mine was the last year you got the cane, which I got a few times but it never used to bother me. It was also the last year they did the masters versus pupils rugby match as well after a particularly obnoxious maths teacher got completely battered at the bottom of a ruck late in the second half. He looked like he had done three rounds with Lennox Lewis at the end of the game

Those 13 words could quite easily be used in one sentence and would have saved the gratuitous use of capitals and full stops. Maybe that's something you need to think about in the future and work on. Here's how I would have phrased that reply.

Yeah it's a fair point Charlie but it just seems to be the way. For example, I would always say Sir Henry Cecil and not sir Henry Cecil out of a mark of respect I suppose. Sir always warranted a capital S, for me.

As soon as I see a post in cap locks, I refuse, on principle, to read it.  In life, I have found that those attention-seekers who feel the need to shout at me all the time, generally have nothing worthwhile to say.
I derive an inordinate amount of pleasure from this, and there are no exceptions. Not even for any supposed `forum darlings`. If you can`t talk civilly to me, I ain`t listening.

I think you mean "I'm up it".  But I'm not sure if that should be in single or double quotes. On second thoughts must be double as the single quotes would be confusing 'I'm up it'.

On a Mac you can select text and use Edit/Transformations to change all uppercase to lower case....sweet !

agree with you kenny. sometimes i will write an entire paragraph only to realise afterwards that the capitals haven't registered because a morceau of pork scratching has found its way under the shift key.

There was some guy on the TV recently from some organisation trying to get English redone so the spelling is more consistant with how it's pronounced. If you were starting again I'm sure you'd do it differently, but it's never going to happen, is it?
