He's Irish isn't he?

Where he comes from he'd be called a powerful idiot.
Report SlippyBlue February 3, 2014 8:43 PM GMT
He is completely inarticulate and the biggest sycophant on the horse racing gravy train out of all of them and that truly is saying something. How he ever got the gig in the first place will always remain a great mystery to me and no doubt others.
Report SlippyBlue February 3, 2014 8:46 PM GMT
I posted this earlier today on the horse forum.

"You couldn't wish to meet a nicer man than Dickie Johnson, very popular in the weighing room."

Typical BS comment from Fitzgerald.
Report kenny mann February 3, 2014 9:21 PM GMT
he also ran a tipping service some while ago, another reason for disliking him. It was short lived.
Report naydam February 3, 2014 11:44 PM GMT
To be honest, I can't fault the statement in the OP. It is very true and to the point. I really can't see why most posters on here don't seem to like ANYBODY. Even if you all got your personal, private favourites you would soon be finding fault with them.
As for his accent...we've all got one. His is a little stronger than most, but that is not something to be ashamed of. On the contrary. Celebrate your individuality and your differences.

I spoke briefly with him outside Liverpool cathedral after ginger mcains funeral

I thought what a thoroughly nice qenuine decent bloke he seemed to be
Report second place February 3, 2014 11:55 PM GMT
I heartily agree with you Naydam. I wouldn't like to be married to any of these guys.
At least you never get any dead air with Fitzy. Seems like a thoroughly nice man. And he's as articulate
as any other jockey that i've heard and more so that quite a few other commentators, He's paid to give an opinion
and he does so. You don't have to agree. Long live the Fitz!
Report guinness2dear February 3, 2014 11:55 PM GMT
He is, and?

His statement was a croc of chit.
Report Dr Crippen February 3, 2014 11:59 PM GMT

We'll say a few kind words about him when he's dead.

That's a promise.
Report naydam February 4, 2014 12:00 AM GMT
His statement was totally spot on. It is all too easy to throw away any chance of winning in the early stages of a race.
Report kenny mann February 4, 2014 12:01 AM GMT
But why did he take money off a load of gullible punters with his rubbish "tipping line" if he's such a nice bloke? I could certainly never do that!

Laugh 3 posts in 11 years and he comes on here defending Fitzgerald who is the biggest sycophant in racing broadcasting's history. Everyone knows it, even Fitzgerald himself does but once they get their snout in that trough they are pretty much immovable.
Report BARROWBOY February 4, 2014 12:03 AM GMT
i've got no doubts that fitz is a thoroughly nice chap, good to have a pint with.but as a racing pundit with serious exposure on atr & c4 he brings nothing to the party.i hope & expect that someone in his position can tell me something i dont already know, unfortunately he never does.his race tips rarely veer away from the fav,& his race previews are simply a rehash of the spotlight comments in the rp.nice work if you can get it.
Report guinness2dear February 4, 2014 12:06 AM GMT
His statement was as i said previously a croc of chit. Just because you don't agree doesn't make it right. So repeating yourself means nowt.

Many a hoss has been gifted an early lead and kept it. And many a hoss has been left 20 lengths and won. He's full of cliches and utter stupidness. And of course all that has nothing to do with him being a thoroughly nice bloke (which he is)
Report Dobbo February 4, 2014 12:08 AM GMT
"nice work if you can get it" is the truth of it but who could blame him? Take the money Fitz and good luck.

(apart from KM of course who could not POSSIBLY take the poison pound.)
Report Vubiant February 4, 2014 12:10 AM GMT
It's totally unreasonable to  expect any commentator to keep churning out original observations after events that are repeated umpteen times every day of the year.
There are only so many points/angles  to be referred to  and naturally it has to be clichaic repetition thereafter.
It's the same with every sport and indeed almost every activity of life has only a limited spectrum of variation.
Report naydam February 4, 2014 12:14 AM GMT
G2Dear. I think you've totally missed the point of the statement unless, of Ive have totally misconstrued the meaning. Quite possible.

he's employed as a race reader ffs, would it be unreasonable for him to give an honest opinion on a horses wellbeing in the paddock for example instead of the usual **** so & sos a fantastic trainer/hard working jockey.

Absolute rubbish! You obviously weren`t watching C4 Racing on Saturday to say that about Fitz! Devil I quote, "It`s harder to carry a bigger weight than a lighter one" Crazy

SlippyBlue. I would suggest that 3 replies in 11 years indicates a considered opinion. In fact, prior to this thread the score was 2 posts in 11yrs. I feel truly honoured that I should be personally mentioned in such rare despatches! Blush

well said Naydam and Vubiant.

I have long felt all this irrational 'hatrid/dislike' of 99% of people on TV or Celebrities on here as most peculiar.  Not quite sure what is its root cause.
