I Feel Fine - The Beatles. Love the feedback on the single note, the riff and then the 'What I Say' drum pattern from Ringo.
The extended intro to 'Sweet Jane' on Rock n Roll Animal, although you could easily skip the first three minutes and just go straight into the riff as it did on my Best of Lou Reed LP when I was a kid. It's brilliant either way.
The Cedar Room - Doves.

U2 get a terrible slating on here egner as a rule, that is a great song and at the time I was a full on coke monster so it was very relevant to my world. I must have listened to The Joshua Tree a thousand times and saw them live often.

..they do get a slating slippy....in the wider world as well....but the Joshua tree was brilliant
..and the melancholy lyrics to that song strike a chord with me for sure......lovely song.

If they didn't have a recommend I'd say Sympathy For The Devil and Paint It Black but I'll throw in Hotel California and Boys Of Summer. Certainly instantly recognisable if you don't class them as great intros.

Some brilliant choices already posted but I'll add...
Sex & Drugs & Rock 'n' Roll - Ian Dury & The Blockheads. Yeah Right - Dinosaur Jr. The Boys Are Back In Town - Thin Lizzy. The Trooper - Iron Maiden.

Time (for me - Pink Floyd) is without doubt the greatest intro of all time. There are some beauties posted here; for example Gimme Shelter and Cozi Powell's Stargazer intro but nothing beats the intro of Time (imvho)
