If so, read on...

This is the most fun I've had baiting someone since greedydog left the betfair forums Excited

There's an American by the name of SuzyDough on Tripadvisor who posted along the lines of "if you're from a foreign country where everything is small then you might find this room OK".  If you mail her about this slightly offensive comment, you will get a huge tirade about how the US is superior to these "humble" countries, how we should be grateful for US military protection, and so on.  The more you prod her, the more she bites.  I was even lectured on US education (erm, literacy and numeracy levels ranked 20th globally and falling if I'm not mistaken), US healthcare (life expectancy ranked 40th globally !!! - they are one of the most unhealthy civilised countries in the world), human rights (Guantanamo Bay anyone?  Extraordinary rendition?  Online privacy?).  It really is like shooting fish in a barrel.

She might be getting fed up with it now, but she's given me a huge amount of fun over the last couple of days.  So, as the title said, if you're a bit bored and fancy some American-baiting you could do worse than dropping her a line Devil

Seems to me she is pretty much correct in what she says. Lets put it this way, the
US and indeed the rest of the world are starting to see what a charmless and disagreeable
lot the British really are. A combination of lack education and arrogance do not a good
combination make...suggest you worry about your own country and leave the US alone

Whether OP is trolling are not, let's see you refute his arguments.

I think the ROW has had a dim view of Britain for some time. They still think worse of the Yanks.

Many people, including americans still thinkhighly of British people.
Unfortunately this is starting to change and many are shocked at the reality.
How a country is viewed by the rest of the world can change surprisingly quickly.

The point is Britain and British people should look at themselves and not be so
dishonest.

I don't really see this as offensive. If she's about 45 stone then she's probably going to see any normal size room as quite small tbf.

All I'll say is that a question similar to the thread title is how I met my American wife, some 15 years ago. Yes, we're still married, in case I don't appear henpecked enough!

The OP's point that the US is currently run by a psychopathic dictator who couldn't give a sh!t about any non american (and most americans), who would gleefully watch, and egg  on, civil wars and racial hatred, destroy economies (including his own) as long as party goals were met and power maintained, at any cost including targeting political opposition via govt agencies, shutting down any neutral press through intimidation and surviellance, and the removal of all dissent from the massive govt run economy, should be considered on it's merits.
I, on this matter, have no strong views either way.

I think it is probably just an unfortunate choice of choice of phrase on the woman's part. I would guess that she is trying to be honest, having received complaints about space in the past.

Maybe not, though. But I, for one, will give her the benefit of any doubt. 'Cos I is British! GrinGrin

No doubt you'd agree he's a vast improvement on the complete tw@t who preceded him though.
