Looking forward to it imo, I'll be cycling to work at 0730 tomorrow and according to the Met office I'll have 22mph winds at my back. It's like Point Break's 50 year wave but for middle aged salarymen.

Hey jude, don't make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let her into your heart,
Then you can start to make it better.

according to Wikipedia St Jude is revered by many religions. I guess that is a good reference if you were interviewing him for a job.
Report parachute October 27, 2013 11:02 PM GMT
and St Jude is patron saint of lost causes and desperate situations.

Must have been easily a minute faster than usual.

Lee Westwood won the St Jude Cassic after a 3 way play-off. However if Robert Garrigus had held his nerve on the 18th in normal play and not triple bogyed Westwood would have been blown away.

down here in the south east - the soft southern shandy drinking heartland, it's fine.
Only real damage I've seen is a couple of snapped For Sale signs.
Still a bit breezy, so probably a lot of extra hair gel needed by the estate agents when replacing them this morning.
Report Ken Masters October 28, 2013 10:02 AM GMT
It's horrific in SW18 - A terrific blast of wind almost took the sprinkles off the top of my skinny decaf extra hot caramel mochaccino. I was lucky, some may not be. Please, take care.

We have quick a big bit of someone's (the house at the bottom of the garden) tree in our back garden.

What's the law? Tell them to come and get it?

It appears to have damaged the fence too - down to them I assume.

Well it was a bit of a non event here in Norfolk, but as the Eastern Daily Press points out in this graphic picture a car did have to go through a puddle.

A bit pouty, did someone forget to thank him when he held a door open?
Report Biscuit1979 October 28, 2013 1:25 PM GMT
Worse than i expected in my area, to be honest i thought the weather people were just being over cautious after Michael Fish's balls up in 87. But no it was very windy, a few trees down in the streets near mine, a couple of collapsed walls and numerous recycling bins scattered about.

Felt sorry for the poor sod with a tree on their car roof, not only do you have the inconvenience of ringing up to get the tree removed, you need a new car as well.
Report SlippyBlue October 28, 2013 1:30 PM GMT
The house was literally shaking during the night, the garden is upside down and it's now lashing down with rain and still blowing a hooley. SE21.
Report Ken Masters October 28, 2013 1:40 PM GMT
Blimey, I'm in SE11 which is, what, 10 less and it's a bit breezy and bright sunshine. A lovely day for sailing.
Report Biscuit1979 October 28, 2013 1:44 PM GMT
Yeah it's actually quite bright and sunny out now, it certainly wasn't about 7-8 hours ago though.
Report SlippyBlue October 28, 2013 1:44 PM GMT
Kennington is not that far away but it's a filthy day here, anyway I thought you worked in Hammersmith?
Report Ken Masters October 28, 2013 1:51 PM GMT
Not any more, and as I type it's just clouded over and started tipping down. We've got enough Nespresso capsules to last the week if necessary, if it goes beyond then I don't want to think of the depravities I'll be forced to undertake.
