They're looking for "a needle in a haystack" apparently. Yet earlier in the year arrests were expected within weeks. All very strange - still it's a great gig for many of the Met's finest.

It is a difficult and frustrating task. One that would have been better carried out by the original investigation. The passage of time has only added to the difficulty, but any true professional knows that there will be times when your determination is tested. The only thing one can do in those circumstances is to make the decision that it needs to be done, take a deep breath and get on with it.

I suppose we can only hope for some useful leads, and maybe closure to this case.

They've got to be thinking they've got away with it by now, surely.

They being the perpetrators of this dastardly act, of course.

Unless someone involved confesses they'll hit a brick wall.
Sad case but definitely a lost cause.

Scotland Yard should not have got involved. I often wonder what the parents of Ben Needham think. (Ben was the 21 month old boy who went missing in Greece 24 years ago)
After an initial search the case was dropped and the British government more or less turned their backs on the case.

Once heard from a friend who's Brother In Law was a copper during the Yorkshire Ripper attacks that when he was finally caught , the officers who caught him were more or less 'sent to coventry' by their fellow officers because of all the overtime etc the regular coppers on the beat were getting from the case , a great number paid their mortgage off straight away from the wages they were coming out with and were shocked when it all stopped thanks to the very good luck of the coppers who stopped his car.

28 detectives and 7 civilians goodness knows what they've been doing the last 2 1/2 years. In July Redwood said they were "targeting 38 potential suspects" now we're back to "a needle in a haystack". And the gravy train rolls on...

Well, if Scotland Yard should not have got involved...how is it that they ARE?
As for the boy in Greece: I don't know why the same sort of continual pressure wasn't  maintained. If you want results you've got to make sure that people don't just wander off and investigate something easier.

Similar to what the McCanns and Stephen Lawrence's parents have done.

The case was forwarded  initially to Scotland Yard.
You have to balance things out as regards costs otherwise EVERY unsolved crime would still be getting investigated.

Somewhere in the pile of statements, phone records, witness testimony and other evidence is the one clue that will solve all this......there are always clue's out there, they just need to drop on the right one.

I honestly believe this will be solved.

oh yes, the easiest way to get away with something is put yourself in the limelight
Its like the old story of poor old Tommy at the docks, every night wheeling out barrow broken wood to put on his fire at night
b ollocks was he, he didn't give flying  f uck about the wood, that was just a decoy for the fact that he was nicking a sack barrow every night of the week.theres a lesson to be learn t in that story

killers nearly always flaunt publicity. its a common theme. i dont think the mccanns did it though. i can see why they came under suspicion cos it did look a bit dodgy, but i think theyre just a bit weird. like that bloke with the crazy hair who got pulled for that murder he didnt do. just cos someone is strange, doesnt mean they did the crime!

anyone who thinks the macaans are involved is mad,did they not leave 3 kids alone in an apartment whilst they were getting pished up,think that involves them,

if we believe these ridiculous theorys from scotland yard,
41 people thought capable of been involved in this crime in a quiet resort out of season,
take it further that would mean in huge resorts in high season there would be 1000,s and 1000,s of people thought capable of commiting such a crime and in the years previous and since exactly how many uk toddlers have been taken [ ben needham apart ]
scotland yard ,mcaans on a huge jolly at the taxpayers expense, funny how these more clues ,leads etc come outwhen the mcaans have been out of the news for a while

Been said many times before but why were they not prosecuted for child neglect? He's a consultant and she's a GP.What's their combined annual income ,ffs, and yet they can't arsed to pay 20 or so quid for a child-minder for the evening. They deserve to be haunted by this, sadly.

they left their kids alone and there are thousands that have done that - david cameron left his kid at a pub not so long ago, had to drive back when he remembered, not sure whats worse

But to think they killed their daughter is ridiculous, if she ever is found there is gonner be a lot of shame faced people with some of the things they've said, and I wouldn't pay attenton to the author of "the truth of the lie" - how much did he make from that ? Ironic title.

Kids go missing all the time, why this case has gained so much interest / time / money spent on I don't know, in fact it's a liberty, must run into the millions with the Portuguese and British police services combined
